Anakin was always the Chosen One. While Luke did face off against Vader, and defy the Emperor, it's Anakin that sacrifices himself for his son in order to actually kill the Emperor. What I love the most about that moment is that he does it, not out of duty as a Jedi, not with the intention of of fulfilling a prophecy, he does it to save the life of his son. He couldn't save his mom, he couldn't save his wife, but he died saving his child... While simultaneously fulfilling an ancient prophecy.

@@s4bc he brought balance to the force itself for the most part yes some force users survived but because of the massive improper balance between light and dark, the light side needed pruning in a sense. So in the end by removing the mass number of force users off the board more of the current ones gained a better connection to the force.

Something a lot of people don't seem to notice - Anakin gets his yellow eyes during his killing spree (which people DO notice), then you see him on the bridge on Mustafar, and his eyes are back to normal and he's crying. Then, they go back to the Sith eyes when he's screaming at Obi-Wan. So much conflict. Really a beautifully developed story that gets way more flack than it deserves.

Grievous wasn't aware that Darth Sidious and Palpatine were the same man. So his attempt to capture the Chancellor was very real...to him. Dooku was the only one that knew of Palpatine's dual identity. Speaking of Dooku, that last fight was supposed to go very differently. I mean, clearly; the guy lost his head. He was always supposed to lose the fight, he and Palpatine planned on that, but Dooku wasn't expecting to die in the end. And while the plan was to throw the fight, Anakin beating him the way he did wasn't intended by Dooku.

One of the reasons they jedi can’t sense palpatine is evil, is because there’s a sith temple under the jedi temple, and Sidious uses it’s old power to weaken the jedi, as Sidious is also very skilled in arcane magic and sorcery, and he’s the most powerful force user alive, only Anakin would have exceeded him eventually, if the didn’t lose his limbs and become a cyborg.

And there's a theory that Padme did not die of a broken heart, but because Palpatine used the power to sacrifice her (drain her life) and save Vader (transfer it to him). The machines couldn't tell because they were birthing bots not jedi bots (to detect midichlorians/the force). Hence when Palpatine says "You killed her", he's not technically lying -- Vader unknowingly absorbed her life force when Palpatine performed the power on him. Palpatine didn't have to use Padme as the sacrifice, but he was mad at Vader for losing his limbs (would never live up to his full force power potential) and knew that her death would torture Vader for the remainder of his days, and turn him into the cold blooded, evil killing machine that is Darth Vader. He was also fulfilling the force dream (of her dying), to which the Sith actually believe force dreams were always true and should be realized whenever possible, whereas the Jedi believed they may sometimes come true, but the learning to let go means the possibility of avoiding going down that path in the first place. Obviously it wasn't all the time (Anakin's mom would've died if he hadn't gone), but had he allowed Palpatine to be killed by Mace, her life would've never been trained by Palpatine to save future Vader.

I had read it when i was little (was around 10 years old), but only remember it being a long read. I actually remember seeing the name Emperor Palpatine in the Return of the Jedi novelization. I don't remember Sidious being mentioned in the Jedi novel, however (It might have been, and I forgot). So, the name Sidious was new for me in Phantom Menace.

Leia's recounting of her real mother... "She died when I was very young." Which is true. And of what she remembers... "Just images, really. Feelings. She was very beautiful. Kind... but sad." As a Force-sensitive infant, Leia could have picked up on her mother's feelings as she was in her final moments, which would have been of kindness and (for painfully obvious reasons) sadness. And later, as a child, she likely could have had Force-inspired visions of her mother but, raised with no understanding of the Force, was unable to distinguish them from actual memories. Considering she was likely never told many (if any) details of exactly when or how her mother died, she just assumed they were memories from the very brief time they were together before her mother died. So, what she said was true... from a certain point of view.

Lucas didn't think it would matter someday, when he made the first 3 films. When the time came it made much more sense to let her die right away for dramatic effect. It would've been very anticlimactic, Anakin turning into Vader and then they had to wait a few years until she's dead and the children would go to other people. Lucas just made up stuff as he went along, just like Tarkin seems to be superior to Vader in Episode IV. Of course there are also many explanations for that, but we know the real reason, at least in our universe. In the Star Wars universe you are absolutuely correct though 😉

I recommend watching Rouge One, and then ending your Star Wars Journey. Sure there are some cool battles and interesting moments after that but if you want a complete and fulfilling story, just stop 🛑. If you really want one more, watch Andor. It's a slow start but I would say it's the best Star Wars story, period.

When Leia says she remembers her mom, she's really seeing Force memories of her mother just before she died. Leia describes it as "feelings more than memories" which she can feel through the Force. It's also said that the reason Leia had this connection and Luke didn't is because Leia had her eyes open at birth and Luke didn't so he never saw Padme.

Ian McDiarmid was in his 30s when he played The Emperor in Return of the Jedi (he was inserted into Empire Strikes Back later). They wanted a younger actor under a lot of makeup so he could do the stunt fall. It worked out that he was the right age to play a younger Palpatine decades later.

@@martinwarford1389 I think it is even simpler than that. Beyond the necessary storage for key functions, I don't think protocol droids would have the need for "memories" of events. Thus, R2 would know that it belonged to Padme and then to Anikin after their marriage, And would visually recognise entities to interact with. But beyond that there would be no need for the understanding of emotion or the need for long term memory. Being a repair droid your most important feature would be storage space for a huge database of repair information. On top of that would be a layer of programming which included analytics & problem solving. I think most would assume there would be a "learning" layer as well, but this would be redundant if the processing power of the CPU was powerful enough to run analytics & problem solving on the fly - i.e. appear on site to a repair, diagnose the problem, process the standardised way to elicit the repair, make the repair move on to next task. It's a very top down problem solving methodology Only a small portion of re-writeable storage would be needed to be allocated for "memory" as such & that would be really reserved for core purpose (repairs) information as well as system status backup data. Emotional memories would serve no purpose to a droid whose primary function is to solve problems & repair them. A protocol droid on the other hand.......... Well, linguistics being their primary function would require strong emotive and contextual understanding skills which are part & parcel with communication. A protocol droid would still have the need for the same base analytics and somewhat good problem solving skills. But their database would not be as large as a repair droid, and with the fluid nature of languages changing learning skills would be high on the agenda. For that reason a large volume of re-writeable storage space would be required to keep new interactions and new information at hand for future benefit. That would mean "memories" would form a key aspect to a protocl droids existence

And btw many of us guessed this father-son thing before that scene... So no, it's not that big of a deal as people want everyone to think. It is forced to stay THE MOMENT by rightful-thinking pseudo true fans (a.k.a. "fanboys") who have a sick feeling of ownership towards the franchise... But... The truth is that it is way way way more satisfying overall, to watch in chronological order, because you benefit from all the numerous tragic moments of the franchise and fully experience the countless twists and turns... And not just this one " I am your father" bit that isn't at all the full representation of the Star Wars saga ! It is and will forever stay an intense and striking moment... But forever, if we are objective and intellectually honest, we all know that the fall of Anakin Skywalker is peak dramaturgy... And it resonates much stronger in the OG trilogy when you experience the whole trajectory by starting with Ep1. 👌💯✨

The thing is the Original Trilogy is the center of the whole saga. That's why these are called PRE-quels. They take place before the main story. If Lucas really wanted to do Chronological Order then he would have done Phantom Menace back in the 70's

Yes, the main issue with the SW saga is that you can't watch one trilogy in its entirety without spoiling elements from the other... but there *IS* a way around it: strategically alternating between both trilogies the first time around (especially for adult viewers who are better equipped for dealing with non-linear narratives). There are 3 options in this situation: I-IV-II-V-III-VI, I-II-IV-V-III-VI, or IV-I-II-V-III-VI. This way, you not only preserve the big familial revelations in the OT (albeit simply re-contextualizing them; the "I am your father" moment no longer reads as *_"OMG, Vader is Luke's father!"_* but rather *_"OMG, Vader is actually Anakin!"_* and the 'twins' revelation arguably becomes just as shocking as the "I am your father" moment when first learned at the end of ROTS; its presentation in ROTJ always came off as an afterthought to me) *and* you don't go into the prequels already knowing their general outcome, and, thus, you end up not being as invested in them (be it consciously or subconsciously) as you would if you saw the entire OT first. Watch the saga for the plot/story the first time around (because you can never un-know it once you *do* first know it); watch it for any and all other aspects on all subsequent viewings.

Coby, it's been a joy seeing you watch these six SW movies. As a long time fan (and fellow Aussie) seeing you put the pieces together as the story went along was just so heartwarming - for me it was spread out over years or even decades as the movies came out. And there wasn't an easy way to catch up on one movie before the next one, if you were lucky you had a grainy VHS copy off the TV that you could watch before the next one. And for what it's worth, you caught onto things a lot faster than I did :-). Thank you for sharing the journey, made me smile every time you got something - and the tough bits really touched you as well, just like they did me. May the Force be with you - always.

The Palpatine/Emperor identity thing is really interesting, because everyone who was really invested in the franchise between 1983 and 1999 knew that the original trilogy emperor's name was Palpatine and that he was formerly a senator, and they knew that the same actor who played the Emperor Palpatine in Episode VI was going to be playing Senator Palpatine in Episode I. So, for that group of viewers, it was simply a given that Senator Palpatine was the Sith Lord directing Darth Maul and that he was going to become the emperor eventually. But, the actual films are pretty subtle about it, and some viewers don't make the connection until Anakin does.

Yeah, I was familiar with the name Palpatine. I remember in the movie theater for Ep I there was an audible gasp from a good chunk of the audience when the senator shows up. My brother, who was not as big of a fan, asked me what that was about, why so many people reacted to this random minor character. I just said: "You'll see." I think the prequels did a pretty good job at either creating a mysterious and subtle reveal for those who don't know, or presenting an evil game of shadows for those who know already.

I bought the novelization of New Hope right after seeing the movie opening weekend). The novelization mentioned Palpatine by name in the first paragraph of the first page. So he was the first character Introduced in the novel. Original fans knew all about Palpatine (some even before the first movie came out). His identity was not meant to be a secret in Phantom Menace which is why they showed him smiling at young Anakin at the end and saying he would watch young Anakin's career with great interest. And of course, we knew it was the same actor from Return of the Jedi. Still, they didn't explicitly state it ,so younger viewers could enjoy figuring it out.

To be real it is so rare that we see any movies try to be as subtle as Episodes 1 and 2 were especially with their main villain. You just never see such a slow burn, rife with small clues but no smoking gun. Almost every other movie or show would instead overtly show the audience their identity, probably would have Sidious pull off their hood in episode 1. As much as I like the Hitchcock idea of showing the audience the bomb under the table, to me its even better when on the first watch you piece it together for the big reveal, and THEN on the rewatch you know the bomb is there. Thats pretty much how it was for us kids watching it as they came out, sure we saw the Emperor in 5 and 6 but didn't have the slightest idea to connect the two, at least not at the age I was at lol! There are so many things about the prequels that I really appreciate for how rare they are in film and tv. George's world building, commitment to showing a grand scale and going all out in character design--developing unique heroes and villains with looks and stories that were organic to the film they are shown in, it is simply unheard of. It is one thing to use a comic book or a book character, and show them as they are described. It is something else to come up with the idea for a character, and then shop around for a fitting look and backstory for a single film. Grievous is a masterclass in this regard. So is Douku really, and Gunray, and all of the villains he cooked up for the prequels. The people of Utapau all the way to Mas Amedda. It is masterful, and utterly dedicated. The Sequels are a great example of how gifted George was as a creative director. They were able to make a few gag characters that were unique, but never were able to make standout secondary and tertiary characters that really were unique and interesting. Best we have is Maz which was discount Yoda, Phasma as discount Boba, etc. George made Boba, Ig-88, Bossk and Dengar on a WHIM. He designed and built Kamino himself. In fact, the planets are a great example. Episode 3 is by and large the most unique and varied in the planets shown, and it isn't particularly close. We see planets like Mustafar, Utapau, Naboo, Kashyyyk, Mygheeto, Felucia, Coruccant, Polis Massa, etc. First lava planet, a sinkhole planet with green atmosphere, an alien jungle, a redwood style jungle, an asteroid base, on and on. THAT is a galaxy. Final thing, my god this might be ILM's magnum opus. They made this all out of nothing, hardly anything practical to rely on. The actors too did so much in what were empty blue rooms. To do all of this with CGI, when blockbusters still fail constantly today, baffles me in how impressive it is. Look at the last battle of Episode 9, released in 2019 compared to Ep 3 in 2004. The fleet in 9 looked boring and stale, the planet fake and ridiculous, to say nothing of the final plot. Here the movie opens with a stunning Coruscant, and a true fleet battle at close range while we follow our characters through it all. The stakes are grounded and fun, there is no superweapon, but like fresh air we see a high ranking person was kidnapped. It calls back to Episode 6 with rescuing Han, with the evil twist, while delivering the best opening in a vacuum out of all the movies. If we take everything into account, it only loses to Episode 4 in my opinion.

Anakin is the chosen one. Even when he becomes Vader he is still the chosen one, George Lucas said this in an interview. The prophecy said he would destroy the sith and bring balance. He did. He destroyed himself and the emperor. He turned back to the light side with his son Luke as the catalyst. When Luke throws away his weapon and says he'll never turn to the dark side he's pretty much saying 'no, I love my father and there's nothing you can do about it". The emperor cant understand this, he can't understand why Luke won't take the power he's offered. Luke's love for his father makes Vader realise he now needs to be the father he never had and save his son. This was beautifully explained by Dave Filoni in an interview, I can only recommend watching it.

In Lucas’ original vision Anakin fulfils the prophecy by rebalancing the overwhelming domination of the light side by reducing the Jedi numbers to match the Sith. Yoda/Obi-Wan versus Sidious/Vader. And finally the prophecy is completed when both sides are gone and Luke who has learned to balance the light and the dark within himself stands alone and ready to teach a new generation of force users what Buddhist’s would call The Middle Way. However, in order to keep the money flowing to enable his film making dreams Lucas allowed the expanded universe books to retcon the outcome to include surviving Jedi and Palawans to foster new storylines which leads to the situation we have now that fosters endless debate about how the prophecy works in that context.

The force is brought back into balance when the people who willingly give in to evil are gone. When Anakin converts back to the light and makes the selfless sacrifice to save his son, that act brings the balance. To sacrifice one’s life is the greatest love. That’s how we really know the light side is the balance. Because it takes a good act, not an evil act, to balance the force. Star Wars is about morality. To say that you need both light and dark for balance would be going against the mythos and philosophy of the whole story.

Why Palpatine controls the Clones: The Clone Army, as you learned in Ep II, was commissioned by Jedi Master Syfo-dyas. He was instructed to do so by Count Dooku. Count Dooku was instructed by Sidious (Palpatine). They were commissioned for the Republic, and Palpatine at this time was over the Republic as Supreme Chancellor. He was literally both sides of the chess board in the war.

1) The entire Clone Wars was meant to be a Sith chess game, with the Republic and the Separatists as chess pieces, and with the destruction and subjugation of both sides as the prize. Because of this Palpatine and Dooku both entered the game at times as kings to be placed in check. (The excellent canon animated series "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" goes into much more detail regarding this.) The start of this movie was Palpatine's turn to be in check. What Dooku failed to recognize was Palpatine played at a higher level and had already determined it was time to turn and promote Anakin, which due to the core Sith Rule of Two meant that he'd planned betrayal and death, something the Apprentice was taught to always expect. 2) Yes, the fall from orbit was Palpatine trusting Skywalker, but also trusting in the Force. With no Apprentice to replace him, he was confident, perhaps overconfident, that the Dark Side would not allow the complete elimination of the Sith. 3) Cyborg General Grievous' coughing confused many when the film came out. We were eventually shown his remaining organic organs were damaged in combat with the Jedi previously. 4) Anakin's dreams, both those of his mother in trouble (Episode 2) and Padme's death here were actually manipulations of Force foretelling by Palpatine to drive Anakin to the point of turning. 5) Manipulating the Dark Side, in the manner of the Sith, eventually leads to corruption of the physical form of the user. In Palpatine's case, a severe facial distortion. In Anakin's case, severe burns and cybernetic parts. 6) Only C3PO had his memory wiped, because he was the chatty one and secrecy had to be maintained. R2D2 however, has never had his memory wiped in the whole of Star Wars. It is a point that comes up occasionally, as it is highly unusual for an astromech droid to not have a memory wipe as standard maintenance. So R2 knowing everything became the perfect courier to Ben Kenobi in the original Star Wars, even if Ben didn't realize this was the same devoted R2 unit he'd fought alongside so often.

Grievous never knew that Sidious was Palpatine, but Count Dooku (aka Darth Tyrannus) clearly knew. Palpatine was the chancellor of the Republic, while Darth Sidious was in control of the Separatist army; he ran both sides, allowing the war to go on *way* longer than it should have. "Order 66" was a code that was implanted in ALL clone troopers, so they had to obey it; they just felt compelled to do it. This scene hits a *lot* harder, once you've seen the show The Clone Wars. Other Jedi survived Order 66, but Yoda and Kenobi were the main two.

@@Kazeromaru Mace isn't a "grey" Jedi. Grey Jedi as a concept is from 90s EU and actually goes against everything we learned about the Force in the 2000's. You can't balance the light and dark within yourself. The darkside eats away at your soul when you start using it. It's like a drug that's starts as a great night out and six months later your begging for change in the street because it's consumed your life. Lightsabers were blue for Jedi and Red for Sith. That was supposed to be set in stone lore but the blue looked terrible in the daylight blue sky desert part of RotJ so they added green for Jedi. That was it. Jackson wanted a purple lightsaber and it's really hard to not make him look like a total badass Jedi. So they retconned that Mace as such a powerful Jedi Master that he can safely use a little bit of Darkside power when he fights and in his lightsaber style without falling in deeper. It's an absolute cheat in the lore to get around a real world problem like Star Wars has always done, from a certain point of view 😉

That's the retcon since Episode 3 but prior to that the idea was that Padme survived and went into hiding on Alderran but died when Leia was about 2-3 and she ended up adopted by Bail. That's why she could remember at least a little and Luke doesn't remember anything. Now Leia is either considered to be strong in the Force in a different way to Luke so newborn Leia can "remember" Padme or just straight up more powerful than Luke to plug the hole.

What is left of Anakin in Vader tortures him by reminding him of the love and family that made everything worth living, making feel like he deserves to be hated and feel constant pain and suffering till Luke arrives not just giving a "New Hope" to the galaxy but to Anakin who is inspired to wake up and take control over Vader and Dark side. When Luke shows an enduring love for him to the point of trusting him to "keep him from dying", The Chosen One awakens and saves the "New Hope", Luke and brings balance to the Force.

Yeah, I never get why some people think Luke brought balance to the Force. He was being roasted to death by my boy Sheev. It was Anakin who saved the galaxy from further tyranny. Luke being the protagonist doesn't mean shit, it's still Anakin's story. And it always was, even before -77. It was called "The Tragedy of Darth Vader" before it was called "Star Wars". And sure, some of it was told through "Luke Starkiller's" perspective but George knew early on that he was presenting us with the middle of the story. George Lucas referred to the Emperor as Palpatine well before the prequels. It was mentioned in the novelization of Episode IV that came out in 1976, months before the first movie came out. We also knew that the actor who played the Emperor in Return of the Jedi was the same one who played the Chancellor. So we knew from before episode IV. In early interviews during the late 70s and early 80s, Lucas mentioned a number of backstory ideas. We knew that Anakin and Obi Wan dueled on flying platforms over lava and Anakin falling in Lava was why he needed the suit.

If you go into The Phantom Menace having only watched the movies, then you don't make the connection with the name Palpatine since that name is never spoken in the originals. The thing that a lot of people don’t appreciate, which is brilliant writing by Lucas, is how do you have Obi Wan dismember Anakin without making Obi Wan look like a monster? He can’t do them all one at a time, so Anakin has to be rotating to lose them all to a single slash. The high ground beat has been mocked but it’s actually genius because Anakin wants to prove he’s better than Obi Wan and it lets him take three limbs with one slice.

A good Jedi is supposed to be the opposite, never taking a victory for granted until the fight is over. Maul was sliced because he saw Obi Wan hanging there defeated and got cocky, while Obi remained calmed (amazing feat considering his situation, a lack of a lightsaber, and having lost his master just seconds ago). That’s why he said “don’t try it” to Anakin, he was just lighting the mood with the high ground comment (a reminder of the good times and practices/tactics they had together in all those years), but saw that Anakin took it seriously. And Obi, at his core, didn’t want to kill Anakin, he knew he had to, but didn’t want to. If it was an enemy he wouldn’t have said anything, but he warned Anakin because he knew his arrogance would be his doom. And it was. In a way, both Anakin and Obi were at the “low ground” in these two scenes, and they are meant to show how a Light Force user can be wiser in these type of situations while a Dark Force user can be weaker when having the upper hand. To sum up: Maul - High Ground - sliced in half. Obi - Low Ground - sliced Maul in half. Obi - High Ground - almost sliced Anakin in half. Anakin - Low Ground - almost sliced in half and then burnt alive. Moral of the story: don’t fall to the Dark Side kids, just stay in the Light. And watch your limbs.

And it's Hayden in the suit at the end, he wanted to be so he got hooked up with stilts or braces to make him stand up taller in long shots. Palpatine also telling Vader he killed his own wife basically breaks the last piece of humanity he has at this point, he believes he killed his wife and child (Didn't know twins) and had no-one left but Palpatine and that's why he serves him so readily, because he has nothing left and believes he deserves it as punishment. He is more lively when he realises who Luke is but throughout ANH he is much more lethargic and drained of energy at this point.

Additionally, Obi-Wan having literally just graduated from being a padawan himself, wasn't equipped to deal with Anakin's emotions, fears and frustrations. Whereas Obi-Wan kept telling Anakin to ignore his emotions, Qui Gon was much more comfortable tapping into his emotions when needed. Anakin needed a true Master to properly train him, not someone just out of learning himself, whose view on everything was to do it by the book. My feeling is that if Qui Gon hadn't died, Anakin wouldn't have been allowed to become so close with Palpatine. Besides that, Anakin trusted Qui Gon, because he'd already become the nurturing father figure Anakin never had in their short time together. Anakin never really gained trust in any of the other Jedi because they were always suspicious and doubtful of him. It takes trust to earn trust..... something the other Jedi never fully understood.

To confirm, not all fans hated the prequels when they came out. That’s an internet myth. I was a massive fan of the original trilogy when I sat down in the cinema in 1999 to watch the phantom menace. I must admit that I didn’t love the phantom menace straight away. It was a little odd, but attack of the clones was great and revenge of the sith was awesome. I actually fluctuate on which of the 6 is my favourite. What I think is really impressive is how they fit together. Particularly with only the rough plot and years between the movies. I mean Obi wan not recognising R2D2 is a bit strange, but did he do it on purpose or is he just an old drunk? Who cares, even these small discrepancies make for fun ideas. Obi-wan is very fast and loose with the truth in ANH but droids are also massively common. The audience needs to be able to recognise R2 by sight but for the characters not every old red Chevy you see is YOUR old red Chevy. They made thousands of that model and colour. Same with droids.

Also, they have the scene of Obi Wan picking up Vader's blue light saber because he eventually gives it to Luke, and although never shown, Vader built a new (red) saber 'cuz, ya know, bad guy=red. lol. I can criticize aspects of all of them, of course, but despite what so much of the Star Wars community says, I love the prequels. You're completely right that Revenge of the Sith is the best of this trilogy and that Empire Strikes Back is the best of the original trilogy (and of the entire saga). So, please, please, please, before you move on to the sequel trilogy, watch Rogue One. You'll love it. And for that matter, maybe watch Solo as well before moving on to Force Awakens. He started burning because he lost his hold over the mix of force techniques keeping the heat and smog of the lava at bay: "Energy Resistance", "Environmental Control", "Barrier", "Tutaminis", "Revitalize"(to speed up recovery, and keep their focus), "Breath Control", "Heal", and although I don't recall the name for it - There's a technique to cleanse the body of poisons, which must also have been in use to counter the smog in the long term. Because no amount of Breath Control would save them in such a long and intense battle over lava on its lonesome.

GM Luke might be stronger. But other than him, a bunch of Sith would rekt every Jedi 1v1, including Yoda. The 2 obvious ones are Tenebrae and Episode 6 Sheev. But even Episode 6 Vader would smack peak Yoda, who actually peaked in Episode 3. So why did Vader lose to a barely trained Luke? Because he had no motive to kill him, as a Sith he needed him to overthrow Sheev and as a Jedi he loved his son. "The conflict" Luke mentions suggests that he was somewhere inbetween. Other than those 3, Darth Revan and Exar Kun would give Yoda the fight of his life. Probably Bane and Malgus too. Post Episode 6 is not very interesting to me, because all the main characters would stomp anyone who came before them. But that also means Sith like Krayt and Caedus are way stronger than Yoda. I have never heard anyone say that Jedi are generally stronger than Sith. Ever. You are truly unique, my friend.

To be fair, I disagree with all the criticisms the prequels get...except for ONE, the timing of Padmé's death in Revenge of the Sith. YEARS ago, BEFORE Episode's 1, 2 and 3 were made, there was a Star Wars Trilogy novelization with all three movies told in one book that said Leia and Luke's mom, who wasn't named at the time it was published, died raising Leia on Alderaan when Leia was 3 to 4 years old. That is ONE thing George shoulda stuck with IMO, or just not have her death scene and show her on Alderaan as a handmaiden for Leia while Bail and his wife raise her daughter. Woulda made MUCH more sense. Also, Jar Jar had ONE line in this: "S'cuse me". Also, only 3PO got memory wiped, R2 STILL has his, hence his chuckle. He likely restored 3PO's later.

Yes, Anakin got both his left arm and both legs severed; he had his legs tucked beneath his arm while he leapt, with his right artificial arm extended out holding his lightsaber, which is why Obi-Wan's cut missed it. Besides catching on fire and suffering 3rd degree burns all over his body, his lungs were also scorched on the volcanic heat and air. The Emperor was genuinely astonished to find him still alive; his hatred was all that was keeping him going. Generally, "movie lava" is nothing like real lava; molten rock is so hot that from 100 feet away you'd faint from the heat, 50 feet and your hair and clothes would catch fire. Here the premise is that both Obi-Wan and Anakin are using the Force to counter the heat. When Anakin gets hurt, he loses his focus and control and is affected by it.

But because he was not a top-tier director at the time, 20th Century Fox wouldn't give him the time or money to film the entire story at once.
