I use the single hook plant hangers to hold steel targets... It's like they were made for it. As such I've had to repair several in one way or the other. It never occurred to me to put a gusset in that corner. I'll put one in next time though.

I never thought of that but now that you mention it, they are perfect for that! We both learned something today! Thanks man!

That vice mount is how I do mine , I use wingnuts on the bolts to make setting up and removing a bit quicker , they can vibrate loose so its best to tweak them with pliers. I've been wearing a mask now for grinding- I grind by the open up n over door- one time the sunlight showed up the amount of dust particles suspended in the air, pretty bad. Maybe do some grinding , turn out the shop lights , then shine a halogen light/good torch across the shop to see what's in the air . I've seen some reasonably priced fume extractors on ebay/amazon , I actually thought about using a kitchen hood type extractor someone was throwing out , but main problem is I reckon it would trip the breaker if I ran it when grinding/welding , ditto the proper fume extractors.

That's a great idea Jaques! Plan on seeing this in an upcoming video (provided I can get the particles to pick up on camera). I wasnt always safety conscious but as I get older my health becomes more and more important. I like the wingnuts idea too. This is why I love it when viewers leave comments! Thanks man! Be sure to pipe up in the comments if you see your idea!!!

@@BrandonLund I did a double take there- but breathed a sigh of relief when I saw it was particles you wanted to show up on camera and not some other "icles"

California gets so hot! 98 degrees last week even. I have to use long sleeve shirts or a jacket which I think might be the same model as yours or I'll sweat like hell and overheat. There's no way I could survive welding heat and the sun here in leather even if I wanted to.

I've been to Arizona so I can relate. Our summers here can get up in the 90's but the humidity makes it rough. I think this will be a great in place of leathers.

Brandon....Question..I have a Millermatic 211 is there any problem going to .024 wire. I do hobby welding I call scrap art. I thought it would tack better. Your experienced thoughts please. Thank you...Mike
@BrandonLund5 жыл бұрын
Hey Mike, I havent used a lot of .024 wire, I pretty much use .030 for everything I do but if your welding anything from 24 gauge up to 12 gauge than .024 wire is going to give you better results. It's more suited for those thicknesses and if it's something you want to look good, .024 is probably best also.

Nice vid, Brandon! I like that vice, too. Ты что, по-русский даже? I saw you commenting down. ;)
