@@darrylgibson3575 Interesting thought on Matt 6:6. They could be looking at it that way and obeying the Lord from the heart. I had always thought that verse was about not showing off that you are praying which goes to motive of why you are praying and looking for reward from people. We do see corporate prayer throughout the whole Bible and that is praying outside of a closet and we don't see it condemned. We see Jesus condemning the religious leaders of the day for liking to be seen and heard when they pray as well as the one one who thanks the Lord that he isn't a sinner. Thank you so much for including “everything happens for a reason.” That is so untrue. God gave us free will. So if someone murders your loved one (this happened to me), God had nothing to do with it. That person chose to do evil. I believe God was watching and weeping for that event. But like a parent, He let us go out into the world with our own will. What we choose to do with it sets in motion good and bad events. So I never blamed God or was angry with God when my niece was so brutally murdered. I knew exactly who to blame. The people who did it, and the evil one who influenced them because they turned away from God. Free will is a wonderful gift. We shouldn’t blame God for what happens because of it.

Something that really bothers me is when someone expresses a need during a difficult time and they’re told simply that they would pray for them. Prayer is awesome but it’s often times a cop out or a reason not to help that person and they walk away thinking they’ve done a wonderful thing and pat themselves on the back. It’s hard for someone who has lost their job and doesn’t know how they will feed their family or keep the lights on to hear those words. We’re supposed to be the hands and feet of Christ! Surely a gift of some groceries or gas money would be better appreciated than a sometimes promise of prayer. We need to help each other. Feed the hungry, help the poor, take care of orphans and widows! Surely a hot meal dropped off at their home along with sincere prayer would be more helpful. Sorry for the rant. It’s something I feel strongly about. Hey, I’m guilty of this too. It’s something I want to change for myself.

BUT.. what needs to be done then is a 2 hour follow up talk session with the person we said that to ...explaining our position.. the error in saying those things is when people like maybe You or Brandon .. say these statements then just shut-up... that CAN NEVER BE... People need to make a stance and be forcefully adamant about it... say it then PREACH it!.. the others will be convinced it IS true.. or will never come to you again asking ridiculous questions like whether or not you believe what the bible says or not.. they will KNOW for sure what you believe...

I dislike people saying that your loved ones are looking down on heaven or to talk to your deceased loved ones they're looking down on you. The Bible states that it's only God Alone who can hear our prayers. The Bible also states that our loved ones , and ourselves included, don't enter Heaven until the last day. @fivebooks8498 Жыл бұрын
@@DruidsCalling The dead are in the grave awaiting the resurrection. Read Thessalonians. The dead in Christ rise first at His return, and then those who remain go to meet Him in the air. Nobody goes to heaven ever. People are created to dwell on earth and that’s where they stay. Even at His return he sets up a 1000 year reign on earth. At the end of Revelation there’s a new heaven and new earth. The new Jerusalem coming down with the pearly gates and streets of gold is on earth. It literally says it’s on earth. Go back and read it. Ecclesiastes 9:5-6 5 For the living know that they will die, but the dead know nothing, and they have no more reward, for the memory of them is forgotten. 6 Their love and their hate and their envy have already perished, and forever they have no more share in all that is done under the sun.
@tracykarol Жыл бұрын
@@fivebooks8498 I respectfully disagree. On the cross, Jesus told one of the thieves “Today I will see you in heaven.” There’s also the rich man and Lazarus, who were on opposite sides of Hades (Lazarus at “Abrahams bosom”, the rich man in torment and unable to cross). In the OT we see the spirit of Samuel summoned by Saul. From these and other verses, it seems clear that believers’ souls will go to heaven/paradise and be with Jesus. But we won’t have our glorified bodies until the resurrection. I’m not sure if unbelievers are now in torment or are sleeping until Judgment, but even Revelation indicates martyrs’ souls in heaven crying out for justice and God assuring them, saying they must wait just a while longer until the rest join them. “Fell asleep” in the Bible is used usually the same way we say “passed away” or any other euphemism for death. Of course I could be completely mistaken! But either way, there will be no more suffering for dead believers. Perfect peace, what a glorious wonder awaits! Have a blessed day!

One of our church leaders taught us how to take care of that, so that we don’t falsely promise to pray for them. He said as he goes through the day and he he finds someone who needs prayers given he places them on the prayer roll of his heart. He knows he won’t remember the names by the end of the day so right there and then he says the name. That way it’s writing it on his heart and so that God can hear the names and know that he prays for them. I love this concept because it gets rid of the guilt I feel at not remembering a name. Quite often I’ll remember the situation of what needs to be prayed for and that really helps.

I don’t tell people I will pray for them. If they ask me to pray for them then I immediately bow my head and do so right then right there. It takes them a back at first. The people in the store may look on like I’m weird but I don’t care. People learn not to ask unless they are serious about wanting it done and we will go to our Father together. Often once done they will thank you because they were a part and got to hear your genuine love. Also it helps to cement in my mind that later, when I pray alone, my Dad will remind me to pray over their situation again.

A few years back, I decided I was not going to tell someone I was praying for them until I had actually prayed for them. I would say the prayer before saying that, or at the very least right after. Otherwise, just like you said, I would forget, and the good intentions would mean nothing.

Great video! As a counter argument for “stop saying everything has a reason”, the buck stops at God’s feet. The ultimate authority belongs to him, what he allows or doesn’t, etc. thats why Jesus said to Pilate “you would have no authority over me unless it was given from…”what? “…from up above.” That is what makes God Omni-potent, Omniscient, etc. its part of the “wrestling” as you said before with life. Now God is not the author of Evil but allows it for his purposes. For God “only gives us what we can handle”

It's a misinterpretation of the verses that say God never TESTS us beyond our ability to bear. I'm not sure trials and tests are the same thing, but I have also been told that according to the original (Greek?) What it says is "you ( singular) will not be tested beyond your (plural, as in y'all's) ability to bear. Some things too much for us to bear alone and we need the love and support of others to make it.

As for the "everything happens for a reason" ...it has become mainstream even in the secular world.... and my reply is, "it doesn't mean that everything happens for the right reasons"...or, "sometimes things happen for the wrong reasons".... and it serves as a great entry point to discuss the matter further, and ask the person, "what could have been done to improve the outcome", or "what reasons would justify the outcome",....for starters. Other questions can be formed.

Mr Brandon, I've seen this passage translated with the word "sabbath": I like this translation better: “Which is lawful on the Sabbath: to do good or to do evil; to save life or to destroy it?” Thus Jesus, the Teacher, made clear to all that the law is made for man, not man for the law. It seems complicated for even the Christian leaders. Being faithful is a persons personal belief in the expression. Of course the words are more than guidlines, we all should meditate on them. Prayers for you and your ministry.

Hello Ann. My first thought when I read your reply about a comment made to you was beside it being hurtful, it was also theologically incorrect. God uses people with autism for his purpose too! One of the most powerful prayer warriors I ever met had Down’s syndrome. In fact, God enjoys using broken neurotypicals too. It shows that it’s Him and not us. There’s another problem with the “just have faith” mantra. It takes away God’s sovereignty to decide to heal someone (or not).

"All things" include good things, not just bad things. The statement is always used for encouraging those who are going through bad things. It becomes to mean, in the emotions, that only bad things work together for good. It causes people to gravitate towards bad things, since they work together for good. We should gravitate to good things, not gravitate towards misery. All things work together towards good, even good things!

When you say “I’ll pray for you “ then, at that very moment, you ask God to help you remember to pray for that person. You also, if you can’t pray with them then, in your heart, that very moment say, “God, please be with these people”, for comfort or peace or whatever the situation calls for, something quick and simple, that makes it not a lie.

In South Africa they often use lines like "a woman's tears never falls in vain" it's a way of saying "God favors me" but they say it as a form of a curse that who ever made or caused them pain God will punish them. “I’ll pray for you” is best replaced with “can I pray with you”. In my view “I’ll pray for you” sounds more like “later, when it’s convenient for me, and you’re not around, I’ll say some magical words and maybe that will help” versus “can I pray with you” turns it into a joint experience where two or more believers are sharing and caring and approaching the throne room of grace and mercy.
