Something I noticed... Jesus knocked on the door and Mary kept saying "Come in! If it's You, just come it!" Jesus kept knocking and didn't come in until Mary opened the door. My mind went to Revelation 3:20 "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me." He stood at the door and knocked even at Mary's door and would not come in until she opened the door. He stands at the door and knocks. Will we open the door? Anyway, just a thought... Cheers!

Thanks, Brandon. I always wondered about the kissing at the door posts. The Moses Seat? Wow. What honor. It's nice to see the One who gave the law to Moses sitting in His rightful place of pre-eminence. Thanks for the insight into the burial practices of the Jewish ppl in that time. I wonder if they still practice these rituals in modern day.

I say amen. I was taught in seminary that when you are preparing a message or a sermon that what you do is that you look at the passage of scripture in three ways one you look at the past you look and find out what was going on when that passage took place you find out why it was spoken and then written. Secondly you look and find out what is happening in the time that it is referenced in the scriptures for that Sunday's sermon. And the third thing is you look and you find why it is relevant for us today how that scripture can help us to become better followers of jesus. I have tried in my sermons to do exactly that. I agree we need to look back and study the scriptures that are in the Old Testament because they have so much to teach us so much to show us of how we are to structure our lives today not in the way that it happened back when the Old Testament was written or when the oral tradition was around but how it helps us today.

Brandon, you have done so much for my spiritual life by explaining different happenings or items in The Chosen episodes. Although I watched the episode twice, I thought the anger they were exhibiting was due to blasphemy one. I've always known about ossuaries and their use, in fact, they're used the same way today in many European countries. But, I've never put that verse together when the man tells Jesus, "let me go back and bury my father". I've actually heard a popular TV preacher say the man wanted to go back come and wait until his father passed. Your explanation fits better-thank you.

At every mass the people rise to their feet to hear the Gospel read. The priest or Deacon announces, "The Gospel according to John" ( or whatever Gospel is to be read) and we trace a cross on our foreheads with one of our thumbs for keeping it in mind, our mouths to proclaim it, and on our hearts to have it in them. Those of us in the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community also trace it on ours hands to proclaim it in sign language.

This "avatar" is my deceased husband whose account this is; I just want you to know who this is coming from. You are explaining things so accurately that I need to go and find out where you studied Hebrew. The Chosen has been criticized for being inaccurate or even false teaching, but the problem is that so many of us don't really understand Jewish teaching and traditions. Thank you for explaining so many things that we might overlook because we have heard them over and over without delving into the scripture Jesus is quoting. These things deserve an entire bible study....and by the way I agree that a bible study should be a back-and-forth discussion so that everyone can understand. Thank you for your wisdom.

An interesting part in the show that I believe not many noticed. Jesus seemed in the whole episode to be “not aware” of what’s about to happen, He gets the scroll and before he starts reading he looks up suddenly like if the Father was calling him. Then he shakes his head “yes, understood” and then he reads but stops before the day of vengeance. This happens again in the end of the episode, He looks up again and smiles. Awesome episode. Go back and watch it again folks.

They are from the line of Abraham, Issac and Jacob. In the New Testament the Judeans are called Jews. Even in the book of Esther, Mordechai was called a Jew. The Semitic peoples are the people descended from Abraham's family. I do believe a good many Jews nowadays can trace their roots to Abraham.

Dear Brandon, thank you so much for all your insightful nuggets that give Jesus's world so much more context! The part about the mule's bit and bridle is not specifically mentioned in this part of the Gospel narrative, but the writers of The Chosen decided to present it here. Neither you nor The Chosen has gone on to explain it more within this episode, so I guess it foreshadows something to come later on. The only passages in Scripture relating the mule in any similar context is Balaam beating his donkey to get it on the path he wanted, Proverbs 26:3, Psalm 32:9, and the donkey and its colt loosed for Jesus's entry into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, but none of these really fit. I can't wait to see it further explained later in the show and you expounding on it! God bless you!

I didn't notice the chair. The screen was too dark. I am not sure of what I was supposed to be seeing. I felt that it was truly significant that Jesus told the man the dead had no need of his ministry. He truly wanted this man to come with Him and leave the dead to take care of himself. If I am wrong please correct me.

Hi Brandon:) Thank you for your videos. I'm continually surprised by your knowledge of ancient Jewish culture and it's impact on scriptural interpretation. Learning about ancient burial customs and how they affect interpretation of the Luke 9:59 passage was really especially eye-opening in this episode. I'm always looking for good information that will educate me on ancient Jewish culture to enhance biblical interpretion. With that in mind, are there any Jewish historical books or other materials you could recommend that would be particularly beneficial for scriptural applications? Thanks again! God bless:)

I think the best way to have God’s word at your lips is to read the Bible from cover to cover. That gets it all into your heart and the Holy Spirit can bring to your mind what you need when you need it. Then memorize verses and say some verses every day. I’ve seen incredible instant changes saying verses especially aloud. It’s like heaven surrounding you and instantly reversing anything negative. But the mezuzah is good for busy lives as a reminder.

How can you tell what’s going on in these scenes? It is SO dark I can’t make it out. Must be the ‘in’ thing to make it completely dark now. And Mary comes to see Luke who looks like he was writing. How is that possible when it is so dark? Please make the series with enough light to at least see it!

Hey Brandon- great listening to you- your teaching and explanations are very refreshing and full of life in Gods word. I have a thought for you- regarding the Mazuza- and Gods word- as I was listening to your explanation as it being a reminder for us to read Gods word etc- I believe Jesus wants us to know it is now Gods Word is literally in us- through Holy Spirit- from the moment we say Yes- to Jesus- because John 1 says - He IS THE WORD- and the Word became flesh- but was/is first Spirit- so with Jesus alive in us- The Word is alive in us- because it came to give me life and abide in me! We are to read the written word- to grow and edify- but- in contrast to the OT- and this subject- all that was before was a shadow of what was to come- what was on the outside for them- is now on the inside of us- Holy Spirit- Gods word= Jesus. So it’s not about me “trying” to be or do- but instead learning to “live from what is already done- and inside of me”- Be blessed! You are a very intelligent/ educational man if God! Thank you!
