Brandon, thank YOU for sending home the message of salvation. Without exaggeration, I have watched this episode a dozen times. The "Son of Man" scene with the Pharisees and the "I only want your heart" were always my favorite scenes. But, lately, due to major struggles with family, I was beginning to doubt my worthbto Christ. Even more, when I was unable to keep my mind on my prayers instead of what's happening around me. But, I value Jesus's love more than any human and tell Him I surrender. I still have much work to do, but know through reading the Bible, watching The Chosen and every episode of your teaching on what I saw, I will stay in grace. God's blessings on you and yours 🙏

As we should be studying scripture, I ask for the scriptural whereabouts within scripture OF Mary's slide. And the scriptural description OF Mary's "relapse." You seem to be dissecting a story/script writer's imagination as though it happened in scripture. Whereas, I have not known of such an act. If I am correct, then you walk dangerous grounds. If I am wrong, then I need to be enlightened. PLEASE enlighten.

Thank you Brandon. I truly can relate to Marry. Her struggle is real. I came to Jesus in 2006. I didn't understand what spiritual warfare really was and how much satin hated my faith. I didn't know what was worse, being tormented by satin for having faith or my addiction to drugs. I struggled hard because my addiction seemed easier but I was more convicted when tempted to back slide. The spiritual torment was terrifying and real but overcame it when I would speak the word and proclaim Jesus as my Lord and Savior. I now have peace and strength to fight and turn my fear into faith. The Backsliding Mary scene was unnecessary and completely without any Biblical support. Even the cause of her backsliding was silly…she was disturbed by seeing a demon possessed man. How many demons do you suppose she saw cast out while following Jesus? It was unrealistic on so many fronts. Also, do you really think Jesus, the Word incarnate, had to practice His sermon on the mount?

As someone who has suffered and still am suffering with anxiety and ADHD, I related a lot with Mary with this episode. I still struggle with the relapses of my anxiety and bad habits. I hate it, but it’s hard. But I’m praying God will forgive me and will help me. I’m currently medicated because my anxiety would get so bad I would feel sick or I was about to die and I wouldn’t want to do anything. But being medicated makes it more bearable and less nightmares too.

I'm right there with you on the debilitating anxiety. It's a disorder, chemical imbalance...nothing to be ashamed off. I'm medicated too or else my heart would pound out of my chest and I would hyperventilate often. Oh, and yes, AADD as well. It's tough, but Jesus will be there and help us thru. God bless you. Jesus is always waiting with open arms for us.

Matthew 18:21-22 “Peter came to him and asked, ‘Lord, how often should I forgive someone who sins against me? Seven times?’ ‘No, not seven times,’ Jesus replied, ‘but seventy times seven!’” It just came to me that maybe Mary of Magdalene actually backslided 7 times in the process of cleansing herself of the seven demons and Jesus kept redeeming her no matter what. Peter seeing this and asking Jesus, how many times should I forgive somebody who has wronged you so many times. I can imagine Jesus smiling and saying seventy times seven to Peter. Possibly hearing Jesus's quote from Matthew, Mary Magdalene fully repented and never backslided again.

Just one reason why I don't watch that show. They put things, events ect, which are not in the Bible, such as Mary back sliding. The Bible does not even present that as a topic at all. People, just read the Bible with request that The Holy Spirit guide you are reveal truth during your study. Perhaps joining a study group to assist learning.

Definitely an error. Mary Magdalene was never the prostitute in the bible. The prostitute was never named. And yes I am a Catholic. Was an assumption made sadly because she was devoted to Jesus. This reasoning was put straight by both the nuns teaching us as well as our priest at the time I was 15 then. 65now @ Staci

Kathy, Jesus does love us. He says, however, to “be perfect as your Father is perfect.” True saints achieve perfection by the end of their earthly lives. It’s wrong to think it’s “too much work” so JESUS doesn’t expect us to TRY.

The harvest doesn’t come right away…a college friend told me that he remembered my faith in Jesus and had given Him his life! A few months later, however, he seemed to have gone back to his previous spiritual life. I was disappointed but held out hope for a return to the Lord. Last year, nearly 30 years after graduation, he emailed me to say that he had come to understand more about Jesus than he did during his first conversion. He wrote a book about his struggle with mental illness, and I’m eager to read it! I hope he brings his spiritual journey into it.

I mean how do people "think" they are so above this notion at all? I certainly don't know ONE person who is perfect, I do think that the (denominations) have alot to do with those types of replies! Their likened to the teachers of his time who didn't recognize their own God! I don't like religion and neither did Jesus! So basically the show is making up stories not based on the biblical reports. Now, I get it. Filling in the blank spaces because these people were not one dimensional cardboard cutouts. But, this is a slippery slope. Especially when you're taking this license with the actions and words of Jesus/Yeshua.

Part of it with Mary in this episode is when you first receive the Grace and forgiveness of Jesus Christ it can be overwhelming. Your heart is changed, your priorities change, your past is forgiven, but not changed. Joy and thankfulness are there, you see people differently than you did before. I was not who I was before. But when the past try’s to creep back in and you’re not used to being forgiven, or not used to being excepted, or not used to Grace, it’s hard to know what to do sometimes. It’s hard to believe Jesus would do all that for you. It’s hard to imagine Jesus cares that much. It’s all new territory. But then he shows up. You find peace you can’t explain. His word says things like I was there when times were bad for you, and I came for you after all that knowing what happened. I just want your heart. Can’t say I deserve any of that. But I can and will say I except his Grace. In a big enough dose that it splashes out on those around me. 👍🙏 Got to say the way this seen was done had a very large boat load of meaning for me. I’m not the judge, but I think a lot of folks involved in this may be hearing a “well done good and faith servant “ for this some day.

I don't think that scripture necessarily supports Mary's backsliding as portrayed in the Chosen. It's not hinted at or obviously expressed or stated in scripture. It's creative license in the film. But however, it is in line with the character arc of the season and teaches us great lessons on forgiveness and personally I relate to Mary with her dealing with being set free from Satan and her interaction with the demon possessed man and the way the trauma of her past triggers her to go back. Even with Jesus at your side and other brothers and sisters in the Lord, some days it it hard to truly shake off your past and the hold it has on you even though you know you are free.

I just wanted to say thank you! Not only has this show changed me but this episode and your explanation has completely brought me to tears and I can’t stop crying. Sometimes I feel like I have let god down so many times and I am just not worthy of him. With the way this world is going I am so worried I will be left behind because I’m not worthy enough.
