Blender 3D Procedural Disintegration Tutorial - This Blender tutorial is about how to create a dissolving disintegration effect on a material. I will walk through each and every step of the process slowly for absolute beginners. This tutorial will teach you how to use material shading nodes in Blender to create an animated material effect of disintegration.
To create the disintegration effect, we are going to mix a basic material with a transparent shader. Then we apply a gradient texture, color ramp node, mapping node and texture coordinate node to control the transition between materials. Then we add emission to the effect and displace that emission with a noise texture node. Trust me, it'll all make sense in the end.
If you are a beginner wanting to learn a slightly more advanced material shading effect in Blender, check this out as well as my introduction to material shading tutorial series.

I appreciate the in-depth way you explained everything, knowing what each node does in such detail is so helpful for applying the knowledge in this tutorial to other ideas.

Excellent tutorial, just like every other tutorial or quick tip I’ve seen of your to-date. I noticed a minor niggle at the end of this video where you set material mode key frames. You set the key frames for the transition location and then you set the key frames for the variable transition spread, which messed up the intended transition start and end positions. Luckily, it’s an easy fix that can be achieved by going back to the transition location keyframes and tweaking the position values.

I love it. I'll see if I can use this for a problem I have. I.E. mixing 2 textures. Usually the transition between let's say light areas and darker areas is too soft. We use the bump maps to get the transitions fine but it affect the whole UV maps. This seems way better.
