How do you replace the lower rubber motor mounts on this motor?

I have the exact motor but with electric shift. It goes in forward and reverse no problem. On land, with muffs I got the motor running great! It absolutely screams. But once it's in the water, in forward gear I lose most throttle and the boat moves forward but not fast at all and the motor just seems to "bog" out. Any ideas? Could I possibly have some "chewed" up gears inside my lower end? Last fluid change I did see some metal shards. Thanks for the video.

Could be anything else, Check compression? clean carbs? check for spark on all cylinders?

heck call it a ding dong finger trap. but heating those case's up makes that shaft easier to pull. two propane torches work perfect. like the Volvo Penta stern drives they use a pipe dope type sealer that may or may not soften. if its aged to crust not sooo much. hey thanks good helping out

So what's the major difference in the gears and clutch dog on the electric shift? Should be pretty similar I would think other than the shift solenoid unit.

I have this exact motor and that PowerShift2 pump and shift assembly is a blackbox to me. Not sure how they're doing the voodoo they are with that equipment.

Working on my dad’s 1972 50hp Johnson electric shift. The cable assembly, when removed, had been “jury rigged” backed together (electric tape). The replacement part #383542 is “crazy $$”........any ideas or suggestions on an alternative for the wiring? Been watching your vids and they’ve been a tremendous help thus far.

Well, its just wires with some custom rubber ends. What is rigged about it where it cant be repaired? I know these are $150 on ebay, but if you look at the 'sold' listing, none have sold. I would shoot them a low-ball offer if you really need a new one.
