Thanks for the video ! You are just over 420 feet underground at the elevator. Once a tourist attraction. Elevator shaft was constructed about 1929. The other cave, discovered , while sinking this shaft is over 200 ft above the elevator and is open for tours, then another 200 or so feet on up to the surface. The stone boxes you saw was supposedly used as masonic voting boxes way way back. Good Job !! , Please go back again, Andrew Jackson's signature is somewhere in that cave.

Growing up in Bozeman in the early 90's I have explored most of the mountains. Between Bozeman and Livingtson and Bozeman and Whitehall there are so many small holes up in the mountains where water has eroded holes to old mining shafts. These are holes that we stumbled across hiking, marked trees with paint and came back with lights and ropes to explore the holes. There are some really amazing places that had been sealed off and nobody had been in with old mining equipment. Thanks for your video, brought back some great memories of that area.

I believe that elevator (if you're at LM caverns) goes up 420 feet from what I'm reading , a pic of Leo and Justin lambert standing in front of that elevator because that newer one was put in says that is the foot of the elevator 420' below the surface. Apparently there's other levels too and more tunnels, like 260' level etc, when you moved the door it kinda looked really deep though, so who knows.

She's wearing "finger shoes", not sandals. They make them for specific conditions, for example one for running, one for walking, etc. But I wouldn't think they're ideal for caving conditions, as they don't support the ankles like a good solid pair of hiking boots would do. But these folks seem a bit young and naive anyway. It was fun watching the video, though, and their reactions to a typical abandoned commercial mining system.

An old and well known cave that was at onetime (1940's, 50's, 60's) was developed for tourist stop. Cave was made by water and may be very extensive and at least the spot you entered is used by the R to drain water from the tunnel. There must have been a time when a lot of people were paying to go into this cave or a small portion of it. There are many dangers to entering caves without being prepared, trained or experienced in all aspects of the hazards involved. Cool video, hope you make many more! Above all stay safe! Wish I knew where this cave was so I could look up the history it has, although I would never get to it (live in Montana and getting pretty old). Looking forward to more of your vids, thanks.

I thought from the first sentences of your comment that you knew where this cave was. :-) Took me a while to find the right info on it but the part we saw in the video was indeed a tourist attraction. The spot they entered was where a railroad tunnel intersected the caves (that happened before the caves were turned into a tourist business). It was closed up once but maybe the train vibrations rattled a lot of the rock out of the "plug".

I enjoyed the video. Just one request though - if you find a feature that you are interested in or puzzled by, show some clear shots of it. I expect viewers could have told you what the oven-type things were, or how old the light-bulb was, or whether the elevator was functional. At one point you exclaimed 'look at the rock', but then didn't show what surprised you. I also like to read graffiti, but I might be unusual in that. More detail to discuss will increase viewer engagement in your vids and improve your KZbin ranking too. Thanks for your effort!

He was stuck upside down in this cave in such a tight space and in such a way that they couldn't get him out without breaking his legs. And they never did get him out He's still down there till this day . This cave was part of a commercial cave tour until 2005 when the State elevator inspectors required the operators to seal the elevator shaft below. At that time it was considered inaccessible.

It totally looked like a tour cave to me. Most of it is natural, and not a mining cave. It's just not pretty enough to make huge profits. Where is this?

Yes a place like this in Nottingham UK , underground caves and overground caves tour
@jasonplatco78813 жыл бұрын
Why couldn't they just requer the elevator be fixed or replaced? That is an excellent example of a natural water errosion caused cave it appears. Shame the railroad put a tunnel right through it. Would still be accessible otherwise.

P.S. BTW folks, when you go back to the cave elevator, you may want to ride it one person at a time. That way, if one of you gets stuck, the other can go for help.

That looks like such an awesome adventure! I wanna go caving again! You're a very lucky man to have found a girl you can do that kind of stuff with!

The girl has great safe shoes on to walk in a cave, a kind of flip flops. Apparently you have been in this cave before otherwise you wear different footwear.
@ellewyman3083 жыл бұрын
Couldn't believe that when I saw it!! Open sandals! Unbelievably foolish.
@FreyasArts3 жыл бұрын
They aren't open sandals or flip flops. They're those weird toe shoes that are supposed to give you a better grip. Still wouldn't reccomend it for came Exploration. They're too flexible, the Sole too thin.

Never mind,I just rewatched the beginning. She seriously went in there in sandals🤦♂️

The purpose of all the wiring and the elevator was to make this part of the caves into a (former) tourist attraction area.

The entrance to this cave was totally giving me TFIL Paris catacombs vibes. Really cool video. Do you know what that cave/tunnel used to be? Why was there so much stuff down there? I really hope you figure out why that elevator was down there too, I'll be anxiously waiting for that vid! I'm so glad you guys were being safe with the gasses and whatnot but I wish the video could have been longer I would have loved to have seen more of that cave! I'm so curious about it now! Are you still in Mexico in this vid or is this somewhere in the US?
