Rosanna was my wife whom I lost to cancer, she was only 55 and a non smoker. She was very passionate and knowledgeable and always came with me to the races. When I raced in F.Ford she was my timekeeper. All my films are dedicated to her memory.

This really made me smile, we used to regularly go to Brands Hatch, I was probably at these events, aged 11, runny nose and all. Fish and chips on the way home. Thanks very much for taking the time.

Thanks for making this film and what fantastic racing! Love the Renault 5s cornering on their door handles, didn't deter the drivers though. Imps, Minis, Heralds, Vivas, Escorts, just fantastic!

Those Renault 5's! Road registered. From showroom to track. No modifications except a roll-bar. Racing as it should be. Always great to see Minis and Camaros battling on the track too. Top post!

Thank you. I lived in Petts Wood, and went to Brands EVERY sunday in 1968. Stood at Clearways mostly, and seeing the lovely 'wicker ??' fences and NOT the blooming 'safety' fences of now made come over all nostalgic. Crap facilities but GREAT racing. I have a few B&W photos I took from the Guards Cigarettes race, Jim Clark, Dan Gurney etc, it always seemed to rain ?? Great days, nostalgia isnt what it used to be. Whos is Rosanna, the girl in the film ?? Thanks, Del, Isle of Wight

I got Lela Lombardi's autograph at Snetterton in 1974 as a 13 year old. (Also got Tom Walkinshaw, Gerry Marshall and Tiff Needells). My wife is also called Lilla. I think Lela Lombardi sadly died in 1990. Only woman to ever get an F1 point.

Hi Roy, I was amazed to see a short clip of myself sliding across the paddock bend grass in my mini, what fantastic memories. Do you have a clip of my 1973 accident at the same corner by any chance? or is it possible to see more of your films? regards derek.

Thanks for another great period film. You have a great collection! 31st March 1974 was the first race meeting my dad entered (1000cc Special Saloons) in his Mini. He isn't featured but if you have any other footage from 74/75/76 please share it!

The machine the firm I used had is called Flashscan made by Bosch. The BBC had highly professional equipment as you'd imagine which allowed very fine tuning but the final result was actually the same. For me it was better at the beeb 'cos their audio I found much better. I can't remember the BBC's cost but a few hundred pounds for about 1 and a half hour of film. The other was about 4500 but there was about 12 hours of film

Hi Derek. All my films are on youtube. As you can see there are not to many from England, I used to live in Italy until 73. I didn't film anything at Brands in 73.

Nearly all correct....Not 16 mm Bolex (I wish)...8 mm Bauer. The quality is excellent because I've had the original film professionally digitalized, not from a High Street shop, part at the BBC and part buy a company that does it for television and film company's.

BBC expensive but perfect, the other firm I used no longer around. The quality is the same as the original film and consider that on youtube it's not as good for some reason. You see the tape or dvd on a pc and it's 100%. Try a search on Google but be wary as some mislead and just video the film. The frames should actually be scanned. Also try the motor museum at Bealieu. If you got some special footage do it. You'll see detail like never before and pausing the frame is like a photo

It made me laugh at the point when the title read "Escort Mexico. Ladies Race" and then opened to carnage. I'm not being sexist either. I know there are women that are superb drivers, I pass many, daily...

Judging from the quality I'm guessing 16mm? Bolex? I'm guessing no massive entrance fee, stand where you want, no cups of coffee at £5 a go! can of coke £5 hot dog £5 etc etc. Glad you could share better times and cars

@SpenAgain Meek was the famous Ginetta works driver in the 60s, beating everything in his G4... In the vid here, it looks like a Detomaso Pantera hes driving, and stil seems very aggresive!
