That was some very fast deployment of the hoses. Faster than a majority of fire departments I have seen here on youtube. That system of using the smaller hose reels first to hold off the fire while the others get out the bigger hoses seems to work really well. Great work! The cabinets are so well organized too!

Riding bikes to the station is impressive as well. You're winded before you even mask up. It's great you got the kids involved as well. Maybe you'll get a few new volunteers in a couple of years. Very impressive fast attack! I’m no firefighter, but this is definitely different from all these US fire videos where all men are standing around after arrival for at least five minutes waiting for the water supply to be established. Greetings from Germany
@Slightlytarded1 Жыл бұрын
Interesting, I'm a volunteer FF in the US, we are mostly rural here but initial water supply isn't usually a problem around here as most trucks hold at least 1000 gal of water, our truck actually holds 3000 gal with a tanker not far behind with another 3000 gal so usually we hit the fire as soon as a line is off the truck
@Xanthopteryx Жыл бұрын
@@Slightlytarded1And that could take some time because most of the US trucks i have seen do not have high pressure reels.
@Slightlytarded1 Жыл бұрын
@@Xanthopteryx no, we use crosslays, which do not take long to deploy
@Xanthopteryx Жыл бұрын
@@Slightlytarded1Compared to reels, it takes long, and it is also cumbersome to deploy since you have a fixed length and all has to go, always, and then you have to stove it back again. Reel: Unroll the length you need, roll back. Ready. With reel, you can have water on the fire within 20 seconds(!) from that the truck stops! Another advantage is that the pump operator kan wind up the pumps meanwhile. With crosslay, you have barely begun deploying it and then when everything is out and not in kinks, then you can bring the pump up. And reels you often have two on one truck, and both can deploy as quickly as one. And, they use high pressure water (adjusted of course), up to normally around 40 bar, and they are around 80 meter long (each one). Here an example of how they are used and how quickly it goes, and also how efficient they are - remember that the water used here is purely from the tank in the truck. Contains probably around 3.000 liter. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gF6vmJiur7pjjNk
@Slightlytarded1 Жыл бұрын
@@Xanthopteryx for fires like car fires that we car get close to we have a 100ft bumper line that's faster, idk how long a hose reel typically is on those trucks but a crosslay is typically 300ft which is often needed in rural areas, I feel like 300ft of 1 3/4in inside diameter hose on a hose reel would take a lot of room

So many fire services could learn from these - rapid turn out, tactical planning en-route with rapid reassessment once information changes (seeing the smoke plume so knowing it's no longer a smoky glovebox), rapid water on the fire from first aid lines, constant communication & incident assessment, good crew care with a hygiene van to replace contaminated gear (no occupational cancer risk for these crews). In other videos from certain countries they wouldn't even have water on after 20 minutes on scene! (Your Hosemaster needs a repair, the aspirating branch pipe has snapped off, rather than good finished foam you are getting a non aspirated jet - does the job, but you are loosing the advantage of the unit that can normally produce 72 litres of finished foam from one fill of concentrate)

Reminds me of a incident a few years ago when the office phoned me in the workshop and said “we think coach is on fire around the corner from the depot” I replies no it’s probably blown the turbo up, anyway we jump in the van, get to the end of the road and we can see a huge black funnel cloud - yep it was well alight, right next to a fuel station!!
