The guy with the hose didn’t see the other guy had an extinguisher. When the extinguisher guy backs away, you can see his leg still on fire, and likely his ass is still on fire. Obviously we are very grateful for the love they have for us, but it is exhausting how places in cities have great things and we have to pay for them 100% out of our pocket, it is not cheap at all, I just got out of school and I have to get money from anywhere. :(

I have been a firefighter for 29 years, and I strongly believe that training matters. I often hear people complain that K saws are hard to start, but a 12 year old can start them if they know the proper way. When you're starting a saw on a fireground, seconds always count.

And not just "wear" your SCBA, like it offers some kind of magical protection by its mere presence, but actually being clipped in and breathing air. Just having an SCBA on your back like an ornament doesn't do shit for you. You see it all the time too - guys doing forcible entry, exterior firefighting, attacking car fires, etc... situations that absolutely mandate SCBA usage, but they somehow think those situations are "safer" and they can cheat and get by without breathing air. And firefighters still get cancer at a far disproportionate rate compared to the general population, and people wonder why...
