Brandy Station has always been an enigma for me. The gift of this series is that it explains the engagement, but more significantly it provides continuity linking the more familiar campaign at Chancelorsville to the engagement at Gettysburg, highlights the importance of the ground, and incorporates the politics of command. Exceptionally well done gentlemen!

Well done Gentleman! Love this coverage and the education that you have provided from this forgotten battle, and how it important it was.

I've been to that location a couple of times. The last visit was several years ago. With videos done this well, I learn or relearn more than I would by revisiting the battlefield.

In 2022, we drove up the road which is seen on the video at 6:18. It was fascinating to think that the route we took was the same one which Wyndham's troops took to get to Brandy Station. Today, the road is called Carrico Mills Road. An important development was that the Federal cavalry never discovered several rebel infantry corps camped around Culpeper, VA, which was about six miles from Brandy Station. Just days later, these corps headed up the Shenandoah Valley toward PA.

I'm from England and I have for some unknown reason always been very interested in the ACW from a very young age. I came over to visit the battlefields of the Eastern theatre in 1989 in my late twenty's. I visited most of the major battlefields Bull Run, Antietam Fredericksburg Chancellorsville and of cause Gettysburg. But being a very big JEB Stuart fan I tried to see the places he was involved in, mainly Brandy Station and Yellow Tavern and there was very little if anything at all that I could find when I looked for these area's. There was a little sign I found that said The Battle of Brandy Station was in these fields but I suppose the land was in owned by the farmers and not open to the public. As for Yellow Tavern I found the monument for JEB but that was all. I am so glad that American Battlefield Trust have done such great work and saved the BRANDY STATION BATTLEFIELD PARK so that people can see where and learn what happened at this place. Very well done chaps.

Excellent material, but I’m always stunned by the use of future tense of verbs by historians.

Glad to see ABT apparently has acquired more property. I was there in 1994 and the only place available for the public then was just a single roadside stop and an interpretive sign. The roadside stop came up so fast I had to do a drive-by and circle back, lest I would be the latest casualty in the area from being rear ended! You couldn't see the battlefield from the stop, the stop was merely a reminder that the actual battle was nearby. It had to be the smallest "battlefield" I visited that year. Obviously things have changed since then. Great! Jeb Stuart left Fleetwood Hill to his adjutant Henry McClellan and his single cannon. Can we not call it the Battle of Fleetwood Mac? You guys knew that had to be coming! That note to Stuart who had just departed..."Go Your Own Way." 😁

I was there for the 150th. There was a big house on the hill then. Got to meet Jeb Stuart IV and VI

Truth-Dan and Greg know sooo much about these battles, very impressive- but- at the end of the video I absorbed very little, why, Dans stop and go’s, and Greg’s monotone vocal just isn’t even close to Chris,Kris, and Gary. (Spoiled)Keep working Dan, I have all the faith in the world that you and Sarah will get there, unfortunately your learning live😁👍🏻👍🏻
