Hk newcomers tended to rent expensive places that their income are unmatched the living costs. The first thing coming to new country should focus on jobs/study instead of being picky and wasting all the money and time shopping for rental places where the rent are high and food in that area are way more expensive. Any rental place under $900 including fully furnished parking and utilities accessible to buses is decent even if the room is basement. Also signing up a lease of a whole unit / house with new comers to share the utility costs is not ideal because if any of them decide to move out , you need to find someone to take over the spot. The existing tenants have to consume the costs of the person left the house/unit. Saving money and making money in Canada is very hard. Any extra spending as little at $5 is matter for long run. The room size , level, brightness are matter the least as you would go out a lot in Canada. It is a place just for you to sleep and rest.
