I'm a HUGE fan of Brantley Gilbert. I have all his albums, seen him numerous times live, in the pit, right up against the stage. He's an amazing artist that doesn't get the recognition that he deserves. He wrote this song when he was 17 years old and he said that out of all the song's he's written this one is his favorite. I love all his music. I was listening to him before he became big. I'm also a country singer/songwriter. I'm a year older than BG. I'm not even close to being famous like him but I'm proud of what I've done in life with my music and performing and I still write songs, cover songs and still perform. I can relate to so many of his songs and have actually covered a few of them. #BGNation

That song is amazing. It describes my life to a T. At one point and time in my life I was that prodigal son. I ran from life and my problems and turned to drugs and alcohol. But thank God I made a major change in my life. And I changed my ways of living and finally came back to my hometown and got things right with my Moma. And thank God I have been clean of drugs and alcohol for almost 3 years now. And now I have an amazing woman on my life now thank God.

Turned 21 a month ago. 2 months ago I put my car in a ditch, went upside down. Not only am I about to lose my license, but I lost the girl of my dreams because of how much the setbacks in my life distracted me. The Prodigal Son is a story told by Jesus in the Bible. Jesus tells this story to help people better understand how great God's love truly is. Basically, there's a dad and 2 sons. The younger asks for his inheritance (which a younger son usually didn't even get, so this tells you that the dad was especially loving). The father gives it to him, and the son leaves and ends up spending all his money on bad things. He has to get a job feeding the pigs (this was like the lowest of the low because pigs were considered unclean during that time). He was even desperate enough that Jesus said he would have gladly ate the pig slop. Finally, he came to his senses, and he thought, "My father's servants are fed more than they need and well taken care of. I'll go back home and tell him that I'm not worthy to be his son, but please make me a servant of his," so as he was going back home, his dad met him and gave him a great big hug! He told his dad that he had done wrongly, and he asked to be on of his servants, but his dad told his servants to bring him the best robe to put on his son, and they had a feast! His older brother was mad because he never got a feast and he had been loyal to the dad, but his dad told him that he had always been with him and all he had was also the son's. He said that they should be happy because his son was lost, but now he was found. God rejoices even more when we turn from our ways and ask His son to be our Savior & live in our hearts! He will take us back in a second if we've done wrong & are His child because He loves us. He forgives us of our wrongs& loves us!!!
