I agree, almost everyone has an addiction, food, drugs, alcohol, etc... the problem is, it is hard to trust at this point. Sadly this is normally a recurring behavior with the select few and how man people / families suffer because of one with an addiction. The reason is there are few who are truly sorry and end up rehab. I'm glad he did, and a blessing for sure. He has a wonderful voice, but this isn't the same song sadly for everyone.

The bottle is my drug. I never lost my wife or children yet. I didn't lose that life we've worked for. But for the fist time in a long time I hit my knees and asked God to help me. I begged him to help me. Just when I thought he ignored me and just when I was thought I needed that bottle again I opened KZbin and this was the first song that came up.

@@jeffbates5322 I was clean for 17 years, served out an 18 year prison sentence, 17 felonies on my record. In 2004, I was charged with manufacturing meth. I have even gave back to the community and took the message of hope into two detention centers for 13 years. BUT I still can’t get housing because of the manufacturing charge in 2004. I lost hope and had 2 relapses. Each relapse caused me to loose jobs. I have lived in motels and my car. It has even caused me to have financial issues. Thank you for sharing your story and I love this song!! I listen to it ALL THE TIME!! Remember me in your prayers please…thank you!

I've clean since I was 16 and I am now 44 thanks to 2 men in my life who took me on as there daughter and got me clean off every drug I was on and alcohol I can say I have never did heroin and pcp. I may not have any felonies but I hit rock bottom and have been in and out of jail. I hurt a lot of people in my life and the one person I loved so much I hurt so bad for 8 yrs and I hadn't been in his life for the last 5 yr until Dec 6th 2017 and now I am getting a second change with him even though we are taking it slow. He is forgiving me more and more each day. The way i see it I think people should forgive I learned a lot from NA AND AA OVER THE YEARS. I was addicted to methamphetamines and when I heard this it made me cry because he experienced the same things pretty much that I did. My ex moved my son about half a state away and everything was so real. I felt his pain. I lived it every day and now I celebrated a year clean in February and wouldn't go back for all the money in the world. My son is my inspiration.

This song is my husband and I. He used on and off most of his life and have done time for drugs as well as other things. I started using after we got married. After two years of using and being homeless with him and our children, I decided that I had enough of that life. I told him that if he wanted to continue using, he had to leave. We both got clean in August of 2011 and have stayed that way ever since. We moved to another state to make a better life for our family and are loving life now.

I want to meet Jeff bates one time in my life. I was young and I was stupid. I lived the life he talks about on this song. The only difference is i was lucky and didn't get caught. But what the difference when people still judge by what you did? I lost a great job, because of my choices. I went from having the world by the balls to having nothing cause I sold it gave it away, so I could stay high that much longer. I am glad my boss gave me that second chance, I now have a girl that loves me for who I am and not for who I was.

I thank the good Lord for fixing and saving me. I thank him also for helping you. God is good all the time. When you really want help, God knows and helps. I was never in jail. Sometimes we need an imaginary slap in the face or upside the head. I know someone who's been an alcoholic since he was a teenager and he's still one in his 40s. I still love him, pray for him and believe in him. He was in the Navy for at least 18 years. He was shot twice and has terrible PTSD from war. I'll never give up on him for his health and mind and soul.
