Damn you guys are tripping on the music. Take another listen, the drums and bass are fantastic in this soundtrack.

And megaman depends more on abilities during stages. Bass depends more on abilities during boss fights.

I own the SFC cart of this game and while I agree that some points were spot on I feel that others were off. This game came out in 1998 and was one of the very last SFC games made, the graphics look great and I am still impressed that they are on the system without a special chip being utilized. The game does feel like it was designed to be played by Bass (Forte if you are one of those purists out there reading this) and that Mega Man was kinda added in as an "Oops, we need him in this one", but there is a major difference not really touched on much: Bass does way less damage than Mega Man, and I am not talking about the charge shots here. While you get the freedom of movement with his double jump and 7 direction firing his damage output is maybe 1/2 to 1/4 of Mega Man's for even standard enemies, not just the bosses, so there is a trade off to playing one or the other. Yes, this game is STUPIDLY hard. It is definitely not for casual players and the King levels are the absolute worst, but thankfully this game does offer a battery backup save so you don't have to worry about writing down passwords. If you are into collectibles there are also 100 CD's scattered around the levels for you to find (I have 98, must find the last two!). If you REALLY want to see a terrible version of this game try the GBA port, it's zoomed in even more than MM7 but with the same level layout and jumps. Actually, scratch that. DON'T play the GBA port and take my word for it. Download a translated ROM so you can understand the story if you don't understand Japanese and give it a try.

I can't believe I didn't bash on the GBA port in the video. I have that one and it's just god awful. I still think the graphics from 7 look better, but the sprites and animation do look really good here.

Pretty interesting review of the game. Speaking as someone that loves this game to death and think it is the best game in the Classic series, I agree with some of the things said in this review, like how tedious King Tank can be and how Mega Man struggles in a few parts of the game. That said, there's something you guys should've brought a bit more on the review, and its the Special Weapons. Part of the fun I have with this game is experimenting with Special Weapons and its many applications, making them my favorite set in the whole franchise. Things like the Ice Wall, Remote Mine and Copy Vision can get rid of enemies in seconds and they can help during some of the harder parts of the game. Because of this, the game feels very well designed around the Special Weapons and it makes this game stand out above most Mega Man games for me.

Totally agree about the sprite size on this as compared with 7. One of the biggest reasons I hate 7 is that very reason. 7's sprites are just too big and clunky looking/feeling.

I honestly like this game a lot. Better than 8 and 10. But that's just me.

I disagree on the soundtrack, I do think the sfc version sounds 'weak' like it's quieter than it should be with soft instruments, however the GBA version sounds great to me, it has an 8-bit sound to it because of the Gba and it's a much better soundtrack as a result. Sprite size is a problem though for sure, MM&bass is a trial ad error kind of game because of the screen size. There's a lot damage and hazards that seem unavoidable, but after repeat playthroughs I noticed that the ice pillar solves just about everything, it seems like the game was built around it for Megaman, and it's intended to be used within levels, most games you hoard weapons for bosses, but this one needs to be played differently, this is further reinforced by the normal/charged shots being weaker, ice pillar is a one shot kill for any enemy for example. notice how cold man is one of the first bosses and easiest. It ends up being a sort of puzzle game in that way, figuring out what weapons to use at what time in each level. I'm not defending it though, it should've still been more like other MM games and there are parts that are unjustifiable bad design, the weapon stuff doesn't really apply for Bass.

Nice look at a Mega Man game that I've never played. It doesn't seem that bad really, but nothing spectacular.

Pretty much. It's got its points where it just feels like garbage, but mostly it's just meh.

I didn't like your DUBBED translation at the Ending of the game, Brasel. I'll be unsubscribing on Wednesday.
