Damn that’s an obscure one. Brass? You’re good at finding these hidden gems.

I remember barely hearing about this in '95, there seems to be a few people who were really into this comic. It's honestly a lot better than I expected.

HOLY CRAP!! I always wanted to pick this book up and never did! Loved the cover and haven't seen the interior. I feel like I've waited 30 years for this and I'm TOTALLY HERE FOR IT! Thanks Mitch 🎉

I didn't have too much interest in 1995 - looked to anime-ey - but I'll be the first to admit I was wrong, and it's way more interesting than I thought. Cheers, bud

There's an oversized b&w version of this that's awesome.
@teambloodforce4 күн бұрын
That sounds awesome, but I'd imagine that's one of the ones that's out of stock on mycomicshop.

Magazine b&w of this art was killer!

Was the black-and-white version under the same title or was it something different?

¿Why were you running away? Because you were chasing me! Why were you chasing me? Because you were running! And the hero doesn't show up for an entire issue in a three - issue miniseries. That's the level of writing that we are dealing with, folks.

I think we're going for a third act reveal, which is a bold strategy, Cotton. Let's see if it pays off for 'em.

The problem with a lot of super detail artists is that they get so involved with the detail that the sometimes forget details (forest for the trees kinda thing), like forgetting to have the main character put his gloves back on while he's cleaning. Why he took them off in the first place is strange but whatever it's nitpicking. The art is fantastic and I THINK that scene of the lab in the AZ desert is based on the huge machine interior from "Forbidden Planet" cause those deep view shots look exactly like that. His perspective IS a bit wonky but for something of that nature, especially when it's got THAT much detail, it's more than acceptable. I would very much be interested in seeing at least the second book if for no other reason to just see it cause truth be known I never even knew this book existed till you featured it Mitch. So thank you for that and keep up the good work. Love the commentary as always and TTYL! :D

It seems to be unanimous, everyone wants to see more of this, so I'll put in my order. I agree that the sheer amount of work per page outweighs his shortcomings by a pretty wide margin; this was more than a little surprising to go through, I've never heard much about Brass so the amount of drawing caught me off guard.

Hands down the best thing published by 90's image. To me this is Richard Bennet's swan song before leaving an industry he got too good for.

I'll see if I can get a couple more, I was honestly a little shocked how good this was. No idea he ever got this good.

Oh man, to be honest, i remember this being much better than it actually is apparently. But i cant deny the sheer work involved.

Issue 3 might be that kind of better, it was almost a full year later. Hopefully I'll be able to check it out.

If you want to see something from this era that still really holds up, check out 1995's Cybernary with art by the late Nick Manabat. I would argue that he was better than ANY Image artist at the time, except possibly Charest once he got good on Wildcats later in the 90's. He would've been bigger than any of them but he died of Lymphoma in 95 at only 23. But his art was mind blowingly good and largely forgotten.

Aron and Richard both started at Continuity Comics aping Neal Adams, dabbled at Marvel then joined Wildstorm together. Check out Team 7 by Weisenfeld too, drawing so good Scott Williams jumped on board to ink it!

Man, so many interesting things came out of Continuity. I'm gonna have to take a closer look at that some day.
@marczwaneveld26634 күн бұрын
@@teambloodforce Bennett worked on Cyberrad where you can see a little if his mech skills, Wiesenfeld did a bunch of fill-ins. Artistically Continuity was solid, but the writing, ooffff.

Wow. I bought the giant/oversized version of this back in the day. I had no idea what it was but liked the art and the huge size. It's a black and white interior. I just checked and I still have it on my bookshelf. I don't think I ever bothered reading the story.

Let me know what that's called, I don't think I can get a copy but if I can I'd love to go over it on the channel.

Surprised that you didn't mention anything about the fact that the same team responsible for Brass is credited in that ad for the Deathblow/Wolverine crossover.

Ah, yeah, that's true- I'm planning on hitting Deathblow/ Wolverine at some point, I'll mention it there.

I never knew Brass went back to the 90s. I have the 2000 run. By the looks of it he streamlined his style. It was interesting story too bad it didn’t last.
@teambloodforce3 күн бұрын
The 2000s run was with a different artist, by that point Richard Bennett was just inking it.

Woof, so 90's! Taking really weak figure work, perspective, storytelling, character acting, and then over-rendering it within an inch of its life. And then selling 80,000 copies. lol what a time.

Great vid! A lot of drawing, but not good art. Not too bad, but not that great. Maybe it's the color.

All the background stuff and the tech is all really impressive. Everything else... meh, not so great, but it's only $2.50, what do you want.
