What tools do I need to start reloading? - kzbin.info/aero/PLXl7rMHW73NPuwsykAr9sWCRShsN6sjIB

Annealing made a huge difference in my reloading. All I use is a drill to spin the brass (w/Lee Precision Lock Stud) over a butane torch while a metronome app on my phone marks time. The timing is determined by using tempilaq on a single piece of brass. I also created a very simple wooden holder for the torch so I can't knock it over by accident. Since incorporating this approach into my normal reloading process, I have been able to find single SD loads every time.

Cool. I do the same. I dont have a stand for the drill yet for exact annealing though.If the machines werent so expensive i would rather have that

I tried the 3 annealing methods, salt, torch with automatic system, and induction. Induction is better, so much more consistant for accuracy reloading.
@njgrplr20072 жыл бұрын
@@therangersbulldogs6350 I can't say if induction is better, but I know my SDs and accuracy are very comparable to what you see on this and other channels.

Nice machine, nice price tag..... I have used an Anealeez for years no complaints once you know what your brass needs, I use Lapua brass and have annealed them 20+ times with no issues low SD and tight necks....... use what you got if it works !!

Forever I never annealed anything so to say it's mandatory isn't true at all. That said the more accurate and consistent you want to be annealing comes up pretty quickly. I did it with a flame at first but I then put together a hand held induction annealer based on a KZbin video. It is substantially faster and substantially more consistent. Total it was under $200 and everything was in stock. For 1/8th of the price (or less) it has been great and extremely accurate and easy to use.

@tyler61472 жыл бұрын
@@1newme425 FYI I can anneal about 100 cases in roughly 15 minutes including setup time. It works really good. If you need help with the wiring let me know. The other thing to know is the different timers available have some small differences so read the fine print before you buy.

One big reason I dont anneal as much as I should is due to consistency. Flame annealing with a drill and torch is ok for keeping necks from splitting but not very consistent at all. One day hopefully I can grab an amp and complete an already great system I have going for myself. You’re definitely spot on when you say consistency is key.
@StuninRub Жыл бұрын
You dont need an AMP, there are machines for a fraction of the price that makes torch annealing very effective.
@nvlaser9084 Жыл бұрын
@@StuninRub Torch annealing will never be accurate without real testing. AMP is ONLY product on market that you are guaranteed to get proper annealing due to Aztec process.
@StuninRub Жыл бұрын
@@nvlaser9084 AMP is not as accurate as you think. Their algorithm at the end of the day is just "Time it takes to reach brass failure point" minus "X% of time it took to reach failure point". It's not magic, or anymore accurate then a flame annealer, just quicker so that there is less risk of case damage. When you use the AMP press it becomes VERY apparent, despite their claims, the AMP annealed brass's seating force spread is nearly the same as properly torch annealed brass. The biggest problem with torch annealing is that the brass does not get hot enough. The brass needs to be way hotter, near 1000f, but some old farts decided to spread the misinformation about over annealing, so most only bring it to 750f, which is not enough. Bring it up to temperature and you get the exact same neck tension

I have to anneal my 6ARC brass by placing it on my RCBS brass prep center’s primer pocket uniformer. While the case spins around, I have to hit it with a torch.

I am about to try annealing twice once before resizing and second after resizing I bump two thousandths and neck size but I neck turn and believe after the initial sizing and turning cases could be work hardening because seating pressure is higher on that loading. But drops afterwards

To go off topic, when is it expected for primers to return to the market? Only places I can find that have primers sell them with bitcoin and other means in which you can't get your money back. Haven't purchased from them because that just seems sketchy that I can't use a credit card. LOL, kind of hard to reload if I don't have primers!

I have heard things on both directions. I have seem primer shipments come in (and sell out quickly) and have seen letters that shipments will be limited. It would sure be nice to see some back in the system.

@@BoltActionReloading I am guessing the ammunition producers are eating up most of the primers. I've seen pricing start to come down on ammo, hopefully that will equate to a supply of primers. Stay clear of the sites that won't take a valid credit card as payment. The ones that only accept bitcoin, PayPal, ect are more than likely a scam site. Once they have your money there is no way to recover it. I've personally called one of these sites and the business ended up being in Pakistan.
