Brass for me. Renaissance wax can keep it from tarnishing for those who don’t want the patina. Hoping for a Copperbird someday…

Very informative. I’m sticking with the titanium. But whether the customer chooses brass or stainless steel, he or she is buying a top of the line razor. I need updated videos on the production of the adjustable 😊

WOW! I'm VERY impressed! You are apparently the only guys who bring out these very useful videos from time to time, to help the end users acquaint themselves with the finer points of your wonderful creations. Kudos! I have the BL BB CC IN SS. But i would love to add the BRASS version to my collection, for the sake of variety. What are the various options for placing an order online from INDIA,apart from your own website? Thanks and regards, Dr. Basu

Hi Dr. Basu. Thanks for your support! We only accept orders directly from our website and we ship worldwide for FREE on orders over $99. Or you can upgrade to DHL for $20. For shipping to India we strongly recommend DHL as it typically takes less than a week to be delivered. Hope that helps!

What about the strength of brass vs SS. With brass being softer how prone is it to dings if it takes a tumble on the counter vs SS?
@blacklandrazors
@blacklandrazors Жыл бұрын
Brass is definitely more prone to damage from falls, but even stainless can dent if it falls the wrong way. If your razors are falling often, get stainless.
@MikeMCT
@MikeMCT Жыл бұрын
@@blacklandrazors they don’t fall often at all, but I’m sure I’d have a mishap the second I bought something that is a little more prone to dings - ha!

Can a Blackbird Lite plate be used on a Blackbird Brass Razor?

Yes definitely! Stainless, brass, and titanium Blackbird parts are all interchangeable.

How does brass glide across the face vs. SS or TI? Have you felt a difference? I've heard some DE razor shavers say that certain razors glided more smoothly than others. I think it may of been a chrome finish vs. matte in the same razor.
@blacklandrazors
@blacklandrazors 11 ай бұрын
Heavier razors tend to glide a bit better because of the extra momentum. So SS and brass are similar in this regard. Titanium requires extra pressure to get the same level of glide.

How would you compare brass to bronze like Timeless uses?
@blacklandrazors
@blacklandrazors 6 ай бұрын
In a razor, brass and bronze are pretty similar functionally. Aesthetically, brass is more yellow (especially polished) while bronze takes on a reddish/brownish hue. Bronze is a little bit stronger so it can take a fall more readily. Brass tends to oxidize/patina more easily than bronze which could be a pro or a con depending on your taste. In reality, both are suitable for razors and the differences are mostly aesthetic for this application.

Is it possible to make a Razor out of Bronze? Curious as I have 3 brass pens and the patina is ok, now my bronze pen's patina is stunning.

It's definitely possible to make a razor from bronze! That's a material we might do some work with a special edition in the future. No plans for this year though!

Best is to get both. :) I have the polished SS bird and it's the best DE razor I've ever used. I'm looking forward to the addition of a brass bird to my collection as soon as possible. Titanium might be too light for me. Generally, I favor heavier razors.

Can the patina build up over the years to change the tolerances of the razor? Will the bottom plate, blade, and cap still fit the same with years of patina?
@blacklandrazors
@blacklandrazors Жыл бұрын
I think it’s technically possible that unchecked patina could do what you’re describing, but I’ve never seen it on a razor. We have some brass Blackbirds that are several years old and have no tolerance issues.

So I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Blackbird Ti, I didn’t think anything would be better than my Henson Ti22 ++, but the Blackbird is magic…. With that said, how does the Brass bird compare to the Ti Bird?
@blacklandrazors
@blacklandrazors 3 ай бұрын
Love to hear it! Brass is much heavier than titanium so you'll get more automatic pressure from the weight of the razor. That means more blade engagement and a bit more efficiency. You'll have to adjust you technique to reduce the pressure you're applying with your hand and let the weight of the razor do more of the work. Some people love more weight and some prefer lighter razors so a lot of it comes down to preference. Btw, we no longer produce the brass version, but we do have a few of our Batch 001 bronze Blackbirds remaining. Bronze is very similar to brass, but a bit better looking.

One more question on brass - I’ve been thinking about a brass razor but keep running into debates about lead content in the 360 brass and is it worry free safe or not. Any thoughts on this. I obviously don’t plan on sucking on it like a lollipop pop, but you just read stuff precautions with handling them. Any thoughts on this? Also, how noticeable is the brass smell that people talk about. I’m not sure I have brass in my house to smell!
@blacklandrazors
@blacklandrazors 11 ай бұрын
The real risk of lead in brass come from inhaling or ingesting particulates. There shouldn't be any risk of lead exposure due to simply handling a brass razor. I personally don't really get much of the brass smell unless I put it right up to my nose. It's not like you walk into a room and get hit with the smell of brass. It's faint.

Can you put Brasso on the brass one to bring it back to new looking finish?
@blacklandrazors
@blacklandrazors Жыл бұрын
Brasso is an abrasive polish. So while it will remove the tarnish, it will also change the finish and make it shinier. Soaking the parts in vinegar is a safer (and less effective) way of removing tarnish. But with brass you're fighting a losing battle and will always have tarnish reappearing.
