Thanks for the safety razor handling techniques. My precise control of my razor has dramatically increased my shave comfort and my problem areas on the chin and the side of the lips is much improved with less strokes to those areas. These techniques seem so simple that at first I did not try them because; but when I did boy was I wrong. Thanks for the video Shane you have brought a new life and much appreciation for the Backland Razors in my shave den. Keep up the good work!

This was helpful! Especially the against the grain grip. Generally, I've loved shaving with my Blackbird Lites, but this brought a whole new experience with the standard SB! Looking forward to trying it with the Lite.

Basics are very important and it's so easy to modify the way you load a razor or the way you perform the shave. It's always a great idea to look at things from another point of view and focus on it. Thank you very much for sharing this video!

Thanks for the tips, Shane. Trying these out tomorrow morning. Been shaving for a while but sometimes it’s good to go back to basics. Love the shirt, by the way!

Great video Shane. I'll be sure to try the holding near the head, tip on my next shave, which will be funnily enough with my Blackbird. I ordered it with the short handle and added the long handle on separately to see which I preferred. I find I prefer the long handle the best, despite having small hands, but I will try your tip about holding near the head with both handles. Thanks again.

Thanks for the great videos and advice. Just got my Blackbird Lite in the mail yesterday (super fast shipping) and tried it out on 48 hours of growth…wow that was the best shave I’ve ever had! This razor is next level, thank you!

My technique is the straight opposite of this. When you have a metal razor, you could hold it near the other end and let the weight of the sharp end rest against your skin. Then you drag without any additional pressure. It works great and you don't get any cuts. The blade has to be sharp though

As long as it works! Though, you’ll run into trouble with lighter aluminum or titanium razors that require added pressure.

@@blacklandrazors I assumed that all metal razors were stainless steel. The lighter stuff definitely needs added pressure. I've used plastic ones in the past. The heavier stuff were much more comfortable.

This video upped my shave game with the 3 finger grip tip. I'm able to maneuver around my chin and jawline much more easily now. Thanks!

I load my blades the same way as you, it just makes sense from a control and safety perspective. However, I noticed from your video, that I need to be holding the razor with a better grip. Another great video from you, and I appreciate it Shane, thank you!
