The purpose of this video is to demonstrate the look and feel of Magnepan 1.7i speakers and not their sound. For an in-depth review and my thoughts on their sound, please visit my website: audionostalgia.co.uk/magnepan-1.7i-review/.

Great videos! I recently found your channel. You should do a video on your music. It looks like you have cds & vinyl. Would love to see some of your selections or at least favorites. Best wishes!

Thank you for your kind words. The KZbin channel in more of an addition to my website (audionostalgia.co.uk/) so I don't actively create content for KZbin. Thank you for the idea though. All the best!

Nice video. Who makes the CD storage cabinets?

Thanks Glenn! I've made it myself. Took ages, but I you want something to fit a particular space, you either have to pay a small fortune and get a carpenter to do it, or try to do it yourself :).

Having multiple speakers to play with is definitely enjoyable if you are this way inclined. Never heard the Heresy IV so I cannot comment on these.

Hello audio nostalgia. Although you have not yet tested ProAc D2R, my future speakers could be Harbeth HL5 plus, as I still like music not too mellow and boring. Pairing would be Sudgen A21 SE Signature mainly and sometimes Naim Nac 282/Nap 250/Hicap. actually connected to Avantgarde Duo G1 horns, which iss too much straight forward for most kinds of music except classic and jazz. 70s rock would be nice if Harbeth could play this well. Thanks for your advice.

And do you use a sub for this kind of speakers? Thanks.
@AudioNostalgia2 жыл бұрын
In short, yes. But integrating a sub well is a tricky subject. Right now I'm running a pair of subs and crossing over both the subs and the speakers using digital crossover.
@AudioNostalgia2 жыл бұрын
@wil v These things are not mutually exclusive. Out of interest, have you ever experienced set of these with a pair well integrated subs?
@Peter-ii4xq8 ай бұрын
No, they are to slow.
@5rabella2 жыл бұрын
Are they hard to drive speakers?
@AudioNostalgia2 жыл бұрын
Your amp has to be comfortable with driving speakers with impedance below 4 Ohms.
@Peter-ii4xq8 ай бұрын
Yes, you need an amp that can deliver a lot of current.

Harbeth's do colour the music, because they have an enclosure. Magnepan's can't colour. So the last comes closer to life acoustical music. Electric music can never be a reference because you are listening already to sound equipment. Magnepan let you hear everything that happens in the music and they let you hear the character of your equipment and room acoustics. Buy the way you have to treat your left wall in the room. Now there are wrong reflections. I hope you have learned, for free, a lot now. Finally, the 1.6QR is the greatest bargain in high end! And you have the bass you want, because it's only a 2-way.

Ohh Peter, why is it that people with little knowledge are always the first ones to give others advice? I guess you are not familiar with Dunning-Kruger effect. What objective evidence is supporting the statements that you are making - or are you just quoting Magnepan marketing materials? The claims you make, sound like the folklore that you see people repeating in forums rather than objective truths. There is a body of academic research from the last 40 years focused around loudspeakers, acoustics, and psychoacoustics. We do have a decent objective understanding of what loudspeaker parameters are responsible for our perception of realistic sound. Are you familiar with any of the work by Martin Colloms, Alton Everest, Sean Olive, or Floyd Toole? And regarding the comment about the left wall treatment - what made you say that? You are clearly a big fan of Magnepan speakers, so you should be familiar with the radiation pattern of dipole speakers. Magnepas (being dipole speakers) project very little sound to the sides and most of their sound front and back. As such, the side wall treatment is more of a priority for conventional speakers rather than Magnepans.

@@AudioNostalgia Nice try from you searching for arguments. You wanna impress readers with that. Measurements and other scientific talking will convince a lot of people. But let me ask you a few questions. Did you ever see or even hear a musical instrument? And a little more difficult: have you ever heard of the formant? You are wrong about me having any commercial connection with Magnepan. I am a pro Conservatory musician, working for 45 years every day with acoustical instruments. And as a hobby busy with hifi from the beginning. What pro studies did you do? Thanks for your attention.

For this kind of music it's a waste of money.
@AudioNostalgia11 ай бұрын
Oh... if this is the case, then in the future before I purchase new speakers I'm going to message you to find out whether you think it is a financially viable decision for my music taste.
