I think I accidentally deleted my comment. I just did this mod today and it was super easy! Thanks for the video! Saw a few comments about the Yoshimura exhaust I have a couple of shorts on my channel with the Yoshi. I like it.

I did just did this mod today. Extremely easy and free for anyone to try out with no permanent changes to the bike. I wasn't sure if it did anything revving it stationary. But once you accelerate to over 35 mph.. The difference in tone is INSANE for such a quick and easy mod! 10/10

Just did this while doing the first service, I really can't believe how much deeper it sounds. Now I want to do the exhaust, just have to figure out if i want to keep it underslung or not.

I'd gladly do it once I bite the bullet to buy an exhaust system. I personally lean towards the Yoshimura.

Thanks but I'd just say that the Japanese use (unsurprisingly) JIS screws, not Philips. There is a small difference and if you use a Philips often enough on a JIS screw you'll damage it.

Yea... It's an airbox. We're not in/out of it enough for it to matter. Plus people aren't going to order a JIS for this little project.

I plan on getting the full Yoshi exhaust for the GSX-8R. Would I need a tune if I do this and the exhaust?

Nope, no issues at all. Got around 1k.miles on this mod no complaints.

Peak HP is only 1hp of a gain. The gains over the whole powerband is much greater and it is noticeable as it smooth out the power delivery. Factory has some dips when WOT. To actually get the full effect you need to cut out the metal grade that's attached to the underside of the filter. However if you do that I would recommend a tune as it leans out the low rpm a lot. Makes the bike a bit jumpy. Hence why I didn't mention it for this video. This still makes some gains and make lots more intake noise.

Yea it happens, it's rare to even be an issue if you do it. Removal: - then + , Install: +, then -.
