Wow the fact that stores only wanted to sell Cloe dolls is so sad, I’m so glad the CEO blocked that from happening. Also the parents were doing too much. raise your kid and teach them right from wrong. I knew I couldn’t dress like a bratz doll at 10 and all of my friends knew that as well. like Isaac said the message comes from parents and I feel like they really wanted to say they didn’t want ethnic dolls.

I loved everything Bratz so much especially Yasmin lol I loved that all girls had someone that they could see themselves in, how they created more dolls and complexions for everyone consistently.

This video reminded me of a Brazilian Girlgroup called SNZ, they were basically the real-life Bratz in the 2000s. Look at the SNZ costumes and they were exactly like Bratz dolls. The members of SNZ were also inspired by TLC and Destiny's Child in terms of style and aesthetics. This aesthetic is very common with Y2K, in this current generation.

I remember this time period so well! It was my childhood. You couldn’t shake a stick without seeing some kid with a bratz item. From decor, fashion, to toys, they made it all and slapped their brand on it. I recall them being so beautiful, and not noticing them by their races, but by their outfits and fun hair styles. It was only till I got older that people spoke derogatory about them. One girl saying “my parents said playing with bratz made you grow up to be sl$tty” and that was eye opening because I never thought of a doll line as such. I admittedly was more of a Barbie girl, but mainly as I was into vintage Barbie , and bratz were so new and new Barbie didn’t peak my fancy as much. But ironically, people said Barbie was the better option. Which is funny considering when she came out she cause controversy too, and up until 1991 was looked upon as vapid and not someone you should aspire to be. When bratz rolled around, the tune changed. I look back now and see LOL omg, although made by the same company as bratz, you can see clear inspiration from bratz. As they truly paved the way for dolls for an older demographic which Barbie left behind in the mid to early 70s. GREAT VIDEO!!!!

I played with my sisters' Bratz a little bit as a kid,, we even had the car, too...but I didn't fully embrace dolls like I should've, I was more of a Crayola girl, I always wanted a new set of crayons to draw with. Fast forward later on, most of the old dolls were thrown away, unfortunately (my mom didn't know I was going to get back into dolls, and said she would've kept them if she knew. Even though by the time I really wanted to get dolls as I got older, I wasn't allowed for some reason??). And some of those old Bratz that did survive ended up annihilated from me trying to customize them 😢Now I done brought some of the new releases, and the older dolls second hand online, cause I'm crazy 😭😭 (Even though I'm still trying to customize them)

That comment of the lady saying that she didn't want her daughter to play with a Bratz doll because she doesn't want her to be a Brat reminds me of how Britney Spears used to be criticized by the way she dressed back in the day (let's take her schoolgirl outfit from the music video of ...Baby One More Time and her 2000 VMA performance of (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction/ Oops!... I Did It Again as examples) since most parents would complain and say things like: She is not a good role model for young girls because of the way she dressed. And somehow, this type of mentality influenced how the press and the media were all curious about Britney's virginity back then.

When those people aren't the focus and center of attention, they go cr@zy and will copy, steal and do everything in their power to be the main focus. just like they did when Bey went into country, they want them and only them to be the face of everything and believe they're precious, little pure gems and alot of them have main character syndrom. Everything Isaac Larian said about them was true, the Bratz were beautiful dolls, and they didn't believe the dolls would get a big as they did and when they did it angered them, and they did what their ancestors did just like they're still doing. Stealing things and trying to pass it off as their own or trying to destroy it because they can't compete. - I loved this video and how you not only spoke about the Bratz and their significance for girls of color but also how it started and the way Mattel tried to take down the brand. this was a well put together video
