Braum has arrived and he's a VERY BIG BOY - 2XKO Gameplay Trailer Breakdown

So we got our latest character reveal for 2XKO (formerly Project L) and it is the big boy himself, Braum! Braum fits the classic large character archetype as he's got those super armored moves, and also quite a few defensive mechanics. Not the least of which also his Poro buddies from Runeterra are showing up as well! So lets do the usual breakdown of all his gameplay that has now been revealed to us!

Braum is very big, which means he's a good guy and I like him. Thats how it works. 2XKO has some big characters already like Darrius and Illaoi, but Braum is the most traditional "big boy" archetype of them so far, big moves, big armour, got some fun defensive mechanics, and I can see more than just a little bit of my pal and yours, Z Broly in him! He's also brought his Poro buddies to play as well so know that Braum is a friend of the people, and enemy of all the people who usually complain about big characters lol.

Looks like we may also get a deeper look at Braum tomorrow as well? If so I will cover it as appropriate! I mention it in the video but I was asked if Braum was one of the characters we got to try out at the riot campus last year in a more unfinished state(like say, Illaoi was) and nope! This is all new to me, had no idea Braum was gonna be a thing and I can tell you I am very pleasantly surprised. Nice Combination of the League Version, the Runeterra version(with poro pals) and just some plain ol' fighting game fun, big fan!

For being a tag game, and one that only has a couple of characters so far no less, having 3 big body characters already feels way more than the norm. Makes me very happy. I dunno if the game is gonna be up my alley, and I definitely know I won’t like its monetization. But if nothing else, Riot gets props for their big body justice.

I think league has many characters that will be big body, any tank or juggernaut will 100% be big body characters and there is a lot of each. There will also be plenty of complex characters as well so I am not worried that they will have a great balance. Personally i want gnar to be a character so we get a character that is both, lol. Also give the game a chance, it is gonna be free. So, you wont lose anything for trying it and likely their monetization wont require buying anything to be able to access the entire game. I dont think riot has released a single game where it wasnt fairly easy to collect all the characters on release if you consistently play the game.

What are you scared of in terms of monetization? The game will be free to play and 100% not pay to win. If it's monetized like League, you will get future characters for free which is SUPER rare in fighting games.

@@Vulpentine I never said I was scared of it? I said I won’t like it’s monetization, because I don’t like charging for skins. I don’t like it in full priced games, and I don’t like it in a F2P game either. I like cosmetics in games as built in rewards for skill checks and exploration, not as a way to tease money out of people. And before you say it, no, being able to “earn it for free” is not good either when the game is designed around making you want to pay for it. I think F2P games can be done well, and conceptually I think they are good for giving a lot of kids a way to play games they wouldn’t be able to afford otherwise. But monetizing them via microtransaction cosmetics (which tbh are more like macrotransactions nowadays) will never get my support. It not being P2W is inconsequential to me.

And then go the Killer Instinct/GBVR route and have a free version with like 4 characters who are free, and one or two slots for rotating free characters. You can then either buy the other characters piece meal, or buy the full version of the game for the whole roster.

Some League Lore for Braum: ----------------------------------------------------------------- That shield he uses is not really a shield, it is a indestructible door created by a god in past times (Orn). It used to block the entrante to a secret room in a mountain, full of riches. But Braum does not care for that. He was trying to reach a poor child troll stuck behind it. And because the door is unbreakable... the man broke the mountain instead. Which caused it to collaps. Out of all the gold and riches in that room, Braum took the door. Because after all that there was not a single scratch on that thing. This door is awesome! :3 There are many stories about this Freljord hero, some true, some vastly exagerated. But he never corrects any of it, he will sit there, listening to it and enjoy it. After all, who is truth to stand in the way of a good story that unites people around a campfire? People bonding takes precedence over truth and facts.

No way we weren't getting Braum in 2XKO. He's seriously one of the best characters in LoL from his design, to his gameplay, to his lore. His kit is also perfect for a tag based fighting game.

Awesome to see Braum here! Lotta League champs are super powerful in lore, but gameplay they're obviously tuned down greatly to fit in a MOBA. Especially supports like Braum who have front-loaded damage early that never really stacks up, so he hits like a wet paper towel inevitably. Now with 2XKO we can finally see the man that punched through a mountain!

The Poro toss at the end reminds me of Sean's basketball toss in Street Fighter III Third Strike. Maybe they are teasing functional secondary taunts and the Poro toss does similar small amount of damage to Sean's basketball, maybe just as a way to disrespect and flex your win? I'm actually hoping that's is the case because it was one of my favorite features in Third Strike.

Braum is the one character I was sure would be in the game. He's the most charismatic and popular "big guy" archetype in LoL. (other than the monsters) I'm still waiting for a freak or monster character but until then Braum and Illaoi are the mains for me.
