Class S performance Peter! You chose a hell of an arrangment.

Thanks, Vlad! Yeah this was definitely a stretch piece for me, and with the tenths in the left hand I mean that literally. It took me about a year to learn, so future covers are definitely not going to consistently be of this difficulty level. Always nice to see you comment, man. I swear I'm subbed to you, but I keep missing your uploads haha. This gives me the reminder to go check 'em out.

You are like a *god* compared to my little skill. Amazing job though! Sounded amazing and I got lost in the way your hands moved across the keys. Keep up the amazing work!

Even with small hands, you managed this much. You have real skills.

damn this is really good. sometimes ur hands seem a bit stiff though. i used to also have that problem and learning to relax has really helped me improve my playing, especially in terms of dynamics and emotional expression :D btw i recently uploaded a cover of this arrangement as well, so feel free to check it out!

Wow I'm really surprised that you self learned piano and you're able to recreate animenz's version to such a great extent!!! I've just started learning myself (classically) and my syncopation is quite poor😂

Thanks! Although, I never really got this arrangement down consistently; I just recorded a lucky take. Best of luck learning! As someone who never took lessons, I'd recommend against my method. Study with a teacher if possible.

Your fingers looks like it going to bend and break anytime. I'm concern.

Robert R22 it's because his fingers are short, he's stretching it and putting a lot of force to it in order to reach the chords and the keys quickly enough.

Fake! There is no music in this world.

No disrespect, but I must disagree with both of your claims. I assume you're suggesting I somehow faked this performance? I'll just drop this video with the raw footage and audio right here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pqPCZaKGnceJnLs I'll also leave you with this quote from Nietzsche, Übermensch: "What trifles constitute happiness! The sound of a bagpipe. Without music life would be a mistake."

Well, don't I just look foolish haha. It's not uncommon for pianists on KZbin to be accused of speeding up footage and faking performances, so I may have been a little sensitive to that. Sorry for misunderstanding, and thanks for the kind words.

Can u send me some of "footage, faking performance", i want to see it. Well, to say something about you. Sometimes ur Finger or hand seems to be broken. I mean u bend ur fingers in the opposite direction. But, who cares. You can play like that really good. Its authentic and ur personal trademark. Looks sometimes weird, but ur skill is insane. Well i hope i can play 1 day like you, but i dont have a piano, and i got a discus prolape and a surgery because of that.. And maybe soon an other surgery... So i cant play. But do u have any tips for people? Just learning by notes? Or learning by Synthesia? How do u learn to play songs?

Oh yeah, you're completely on the mark with my technique. It's quite bad, actually. Several people on KZbin have politely pointed this out to me and given me advice on how to curve my fingers and to relax my hands to ensure that I don't hurt myself. I never took lessons, so I never learned the correct way to play. I've been trying to incorporate the advice I've been getting, but bad habits I've spent years developing are hard to break. I'm sorry to hear about your condition, man. I don't know what the particulars of your symptoms are, but if you want to make great music I'm sure you can. As for piano, people can do impressive things playing with just one hand. Kyle Landry's done a few improvisations demonstrating this such as this one: kzbin.info/www/bejne/omKapomvmNt9gpI I started out playing on a cheap little plastic Casio. You don't need anything fancy if you're just sticking your toes in the water; although, if you're serious about learning, it's nice to have weighted keys and touch sensitive dynamics. If the physicality of that kind of thing isn't feasible, then there's always arrangement and composition. All you really need for that is a computer. As for advice, I tend to say that I'm underqualified to give it. I've learned entirely through synthesia videos and by ear. I don't think I recommend this approach. I regret never taking lessons with a teacher, learning proper technique, learning to read sheets, and building up a classical repertoire. I guess my advice would be to find a good teacher. That said, nobody's ever become really great without putting the time in, and the best way to do that is to love playing the instrument. Ok, finally, let me address the faked performances thing. I believe Kyle Landry's gotten this one quite a bit. I seriously doubt that any of his performances are manipulated in any deceptive way, but the accusation gets thrown around a lot. See the comments in this reddit thread as one example: www.reddit.com/r/piano/comments/37yk61/kyle_landry_playing_attack_on_titan_on_a_steinway/ I recall that he's done a few videos where he included an analog clock with a second hand in frame to show that the footage wasn't being sped up, but I don't know what videos they were offhand. There's also a conversation in the comments on this performance if you scroll down a bit: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nmrZm2CmZt56gtk This is slightly less relevant, but TheIshter released a video back in June describing extensive post production work he had to do to correct his MIDI recordings: kzbin.info/www/bejne/q6LZqZyBotigf6M I think he makes the case pretty clearly in the video that the problem wasn't his performance, but the MIDI recorder added to his digital piano. Looking now, his audience seems to have been (and rightly so) overwhelmingly supportive, but I remember seeing a handful of negative reactions back when he first announced this. I don't actually know of any piano performances that were really sped up or otherwise manipulated in some deceptive way. Sorry for the essay!
