I really like the concept of these summons, linked with modern technology. That's why the "ice queen" always seemed out of place to me (and far less original). They mixed a plane and a crow for the wind summon, why didn't they mixed a submarine and a whale for the water/ice one ?! x)

Now I'm thinking: What if the Ice Queen one resembles a real human, because WE as the players see the characters as small humans, just like how the summon is much bigger than the normal humans in the game?

my Favorite summons are: #1: Hresvelgr. a giant airplane-bird hybrid monster.....that's actually a very unique concept. #2: Promethean Fire. a train from hell whose front car is a massive head that can spit out fireballs pretty damn awesome for a train-themed concept. #3: Deus Ex. a massive clock-geared monster with electrical powers no that's a machine that can kick ass. i've noticed that alot of these summons are based around mythilogical beings but have modern day forms (except the scorpion, maiden & warrior).....& this is a fantasy game? maybe their summoning them from different time periods or something.

There's sort of a reason for that and it's spoilery if you haven't beat the game yet. Also the scorpion is obviously a street with the power lines and buildings, and the warrior is a radio tower.

James Smith That term goes back way further than that. I know it from Deus ex Machina which means god from the machine. It's the term that came from during ancient Greek plays when something happens or some character shows up near the end to miraculously solve everything.

Hes an interesting tidbit, if you notice all of the summons seem to have the same distinctive aura as the last area of the game. This could imply that the summons are really demons of similar nature and may have a connection to the Dark Aurora which i would like to believe is a nightmare realm or possibly the Land of Wa due to some kind of distortion

Despite this being two months after, this is an important point, but you got it slightly wrong; In the final battle, the final boss "opens a gate to the Celestial Realm" and part of the background turns into what is on your 3DS Camera. This heavily implies the Celestial Realm is our world, and the summons probably come from there too. Susano-o is a figure of Japanese mythology, where I'm not sure about Ziusudra's Sin, I believe it's Celtic. The others have modern-day elemnts: a plane, a train, a machine, and a metropolis.

Hydrentine Ziusudra's Sin comes from Sumerian/Babylonian mythology, just like Girtablulu. Ziusudra is an ancient king, the Sumerian analogue of Noah. I'm not sure what his "sin" refers to, or why the summon is female, but there is a moon god named Sin that's responsible for creating the first rivers.
