I find it funny that the character named Braev Lee has the asterisk for the class with the best Default.

I really like Templar but I think this paladin type job worked better with Bastion as it has a magic barrier along with rampart making it always useful to your team and has an ability to allow it easier BP gain, still I like what they had going here, I see Bastion as a solid evolution more than a replacement. Great video!

Might not be the most versatile or gamebreaking job, but it offers a very useful specific skill and support ability I agree, Rampart is great and I would even say it's the only ability worth using from the Templar's job command. It's great to negate certain physical attacks that deal 9999 dmg like the Dark Knight Minus Strike and certain nemesis bosses like the new year Limited Takoizumi The only good support skill is BP Limit up, but it's really good for just 1 slot to be able to get +1 BP With a BP battery like Perforrmer My Hero + 3x Mimic to instantly set all other allies at 4 BP. Don't think anything else is really worth using. Only getting 15% critical on magic/item etc is unreliable. The attack skills just pales to all the other options you should have. So basically a one trick pony job, but a very helpful one to make certain fights much easier.

Agree on pretty much everything said here. It's a shame the Templar couldn't have its cake and eat it too with all the damage buttons it has...

Desperation is my favourite skill. Yes, it reduces DEF, but since your DEF is boosted by a shield, that's not a major loss, as shields improve your durability drastically even if debuffed. Not that great if you need the DEF buffs, but if not, Templar can survive just fine for that turn. By the way, being slow can be both a Con and a Pro. Slow classes can make better use of mimic if mimicking another character, like for instance, someone with the My Hero ability. Templar being slow, makes his turn order far more predictable with no risk of ever acting before the character you want to mimic.

I've never used this class since its stats are kinda meh and for me to use their skills I'd have to revamp my party setup, but maybe I'll change that on my next playthrough

Its a shame this class is held back so hard by its low speed. I tried using it agaisnt the dragons, but it was consistently too slow to land Rampart before the dragon acted. And from what you say, it can never be the best DPS either. So I guess it's relegated to a cool looking outfit I'll never use because its better as a support ability.

Templar, a job that had so much opportunity, but so much of it wasted. Amazing damage mitigation for the whole team, to slow to actively make use of it. Amazing damage potential, too resource heavy and lacks the speed (again) to effectively use it. Amazing support options with the crit buffs, but lacks the speed (AGAIN) and/or mind/intelligence to use it or becomes redundant due to already damage/healing capping from other more reliable buffs/debuffs/healing options. Templar was found just way too late in the game for it's own good. It's defenses and damage reduction matter much less due to already having much more flexible ways to mitigate damage. It's damage is too conditional for how many jobs can pack more of a punch than it (outside of a Bravely Second Heaven's Gate), even ignoring the damage cap that you've likely already been able to reliably hit. And to make matters worse, it's one of those jobs that sees more use for it's defensive utility as a secondary job with it's main claim to fame being Rampart... but was obtained shortly after getting Spiritmaster who can not only can mitigate ALL damage for two turns (rather than a single physical attack), but offers much more utility through elemental buffs as well as elemental/status reduction/immunity and is much easier to plan around (and also even using BP as it's primary resource no less). Literally the only benefit of Rampart over Stillness is if said physical attack can have a status tied to it (like the Dragon's breath attacks)... but again, Spiritmaster can plan around it and either packs immunity to it, or just slap on an immunity passive and ignore the threat altogether. Such a shame considering Braev was such an intimidating antagonist for the first half of the game.

Couldn't have said it better myself. This job takes one step forward, followed by two steps back on pretty much everything.
