For the record, Norende is now a viable option again thanks to Netpass on a modded 3DS! It’s how I’m playing the game for the first time! Plus, it emulates the flow of getting streetpass, so you won’t be overpowered by the end of the prologue, for example!

Any job that can force me out of my item hoarding habit is a plus in my book lol. I’ve always loved item jobs/characters in games as they make me feel like I’m playing a survival horror game, and the experimentation and knowledge required to use them effectively also adds to their power/weakness.
@Jadersgames Жыл бұрын
I've always had the hoarding habit myself, so I understand that feeling completely! I totally believe the 800 megalixirs I have will be needed for something AFTER the Final Boss, right? Surely?

Best class in the game
@Jadersgames Жыл бұрын
It's definitely up there, that's for sure.
@anthonyk3952 Жыл бұрын
Undoubtedly the best class in the game, with Performer and Spiritmaster being the only possible competition it has. It's one of those JRPG classes where as soon as you unlock it (and understand what it does), it becomes a permanent fixture on your team for the remainder of the playthrough, pretty much only getting benched when grinding other classes. It can do literally everything: heal, buff, debuff, support, apply/cure statuses, even reliably damage cap if you know what reagents to use. What's even better is that because it's based around consumables instead of MP or stats, it performs almost equally well as a primary or secondary. Losing Healing Lore sucks, but for most the game Quarter/Half Elixirs are already full HP/MP restores, and still lets otherwise defensive or passive classes like Knight or Templar play much more active/supportive roles without cutting into their shallow MP pools or nonexistent Mind stats. The best part is that every single one of its shortcomings can be played around with honestly minimal planning, particularly on repeat playthroughs. Its reagents do cost quite a bit, but you could realistically have a level 9 Merchant by the time you get Salve Maker (who already can play as a budget Salve Maker thanks to Pharmacy and being able to consistently afford items like Bomb Arms) both for the More Money and all the extra cash you got along the way. Even the issue of Norende Village shops can be worked around with even the 1 starting builder if you plan around it and focus on the consumable and compounding shops. Salve Maker might not be the best healer/supporter/tank/damage job, but the fact that it's the second or third best at each of them AT THE SAME TIME and allows such massive role compression with literally no opportunity cost (its crowning ability is its starting ability) makes it a must-use for any team comp. Bonus points for how well it leans into the chemist/scientist theme: inconspicuous and fun at first, but absolutely redefines how you see and approach things after a bit of research and experimenting.

I thank you for your kind words! If you have the means of playing the game, I would honestly recommend it! The game has a bit of a learning curve for the first few hours, but once you've gotten into a groove with the battle system, it really begins to shine.

Streetpass may not be that much viable nowadays but if you have a homebrew 3DS you can get netpass and get villagers without even walking outside, using that method I got norende village to max in a short amount of time, hoarding all 99 of each item possible from the adventurer and just go to town with salve maker's compound without the worry of running out of items.
@rqdn92653 ай бұрын
Interesting! I also happen to have Homebrew on my 2DS. How does one go about performing this method?
@CrossKaizer173 ай бұрын
@@rqdn9265 just download the netpass cia and install it, open it and choose the location you wish to go (make sure you're connected to the internet), after a few times until you aren't allowed to go anymore, turn on the game and you will see several passerby appear in your norende village

I've dipped a bit in this job during endgame. I actually got a group of best jobs in mind that depends how well they stack lategame, it usually depends how they tackle the nemesis bosses for me as those really push your builds to their limits. Valkyrie: High Jump cheese Dark Knight: unrivaled DPS without Bravery Second Salve Maker: unrivaled Versatility Spirit Master: Stillness cheese Performer: BP Battery Freelancer: Mimic just pairs well with nearly any other job Not top tier, but a fun gimmick job Swordmaster: Squeaky wheel + Mimic spammers = each hit has a 30% chance to drain 1 Bp, with enough attempts, you can drain a boss of all their BP, combined with slow world, you can double the amount of turns they are out of BP. And then you can use the combo again to completely lock them out So about Salvemaker itself, the combinations I gun for Giant Draft: Going far beyond 10k hp means you can survive even 9999 dmg cap hits from certain endgame bosses Dark Bane + Shadowflare: Iirc, Elixirs are not sold in shops, so the amount of work to farm them is too much that it was just easier to use this combination to do DPS and save time Font of Life: If you got a free turn, it's nice to setup So I don't know if "Feel No Pain" has any useful applications? To me, it's just waste of 3 slots. If a fight is that easy that you can wrap it in 2 turns with a setup using 3 less slots, it's probably just redundant. As it's final job lvl, I don't know if you want to go out your way to get this. The nemesis endgame bosses all got too much hp to beat within those 2 turns without Bravery Second
@Jadersgames Жыл бұрын
The only time I ever really got any good use out of Feel No Pain was when I was doing a low level playthrough a few years back. The two turn window was enough time for me to buff my team and take down most bosses without worrying about my level 15 party getting one shot! It is definitely a situational ability, especially for 3 support slots!

@@Jadersgames when you finish the Job series, do you plan on any tier list for Jobs/support abilities and final character builds? When I was active with this game, I had to be creative to tackle each nemesis boss. Might also be fun to share builds midgame that carry you through before the endgame, there are probably a lot of jobs I've been sleeping on
@Jadersgames Жыл бұрын
@@tricky2795 A video idea like that has crossed my mind a few times in the past, but I've never really considered it. If I did do a video like that, I'd either only cover a few specific builds for mid/endgame to not keep the video from being over 2 hours long. The other idea was to maybe do a livestream where I could just throw ideas at a wall and see what others think. There's still a ways to go before this series ends, so I'll be sure to consider this for the future!

That it is, which just makes it even more overpowered than it already was!
@nerdicusdorkum2923 Жыл бұрын
Arguably one of the most overpowered jobs IMO. That kind of sheer versatility is just uncanny. Especially since there is no stat scaling on any of it, so literally ANYONE can run it as a sub. The only bad thing I may have to say about it is that it's a bit of a late bloomer, due to being item dependent. Thus forcing you to either be stingy with the good stuff, or grind out getting them via drops, steals, and shopping. But once you get to the point where money is not an issue, then this job is utterly busted.

Ive tried to really like this job and I just, cant bring myself too. Maybe its cause I always read it as "slave maker" The real reason is I just dont like using items unless I have too, the jobs shtick is items so it just turns me away from using it. Always misreading the name and having to take a double take every single time, doesnt help

Reading this comment made me do a double take of my own for the title for the video. I got a little spooked there for a second! xD I get the item anxiety though, especially if I know what I should use is valuable.

Seriously what can't this job do? It can easily deal mid damage with attack item amp and shadowflare, lategame it can hit the damage cap with poisoned elixers, it can tank thanks to reraise and hp increasing effects, it can debuff and it can of course heal.
