That’s another funny thing about the turtle frog. All the other normal-looking frog species in southwest Australia produce all manner of weird unfroglike calls - you hear sounds at night like sad moaning, motorbike engines, or someone plucking a banjo. Then you have the turtle frog, the strangest looking frog imaginable, yet it produces a mundane stereotypical frog “croak”.

I got so excited when after it rained in Arizona these soft little frogs come out of the ground. They too were adorable. The soil here is not so soft. Asian banded bullfrog can qualified. Despite of the name it doesn't related to american bullfrog nor resemble it. It just so round with small head (actually plenty of burrowing frogs oddly have such appearance too. Smol head and round body)

Lived in West aus my whole life. Been to and camped in almost every part of it. I have never in my 33 years here ever heard of a turtle frog! Amazing little creature.
