I know the perfect candidate list for them to check out if they’re looking for more amazing animals to show off and possibly add to the pain index Kings of Pain is a show kinda like with what Coyote and mark are doin with this pain index , with not just invertebrates and other animals no one’s done before I think it’d be a really great show for them to check out and see if they could do some if it’s not too dangerous

@@FerdEdits This channel promotes treating **all** animals with respect. The ant only bit Mark because Mark is a larger creature and a potential predator to the ant. Brave Wilderness does good ecological work. I'm 25, in my graduate program, and still learning from them.

@SirPerfectful you sound pretentious.. better not bring that to the field. Animals bite because they bite. They don't need a reason. Trying to personify animals to make them seem moral is not good stewardship. It's just like the idiots who tell people that sharks only bite humans by mistake. No, they're apex predators and they'll bite anything that might provide a meal. There is no morality in nature. If you want to be a good steward once you leave the classroom and get into the field remember that honesty is the best tool

I remember playing with Leafcutter ants as a kid. Never once did they bite me. However, they do have spines on their back that do sting a bit. I also grew with Trapjaw ants. Also never bitten or stung. But it was fun putting sticks in front of them and hearing their jaws snap at it. You guys should go there at around May. You'll get to see the Leafcutter ant queens flying all over the place during their migration. They are huge, bigger than a quarter. Quite a spectacle!

We have some big orangy-red bull ants in western east Texas. They weigh about 1-3/4 to 2 pounds each. Some people mistake them for coyotes when they do their mating call. My brother is an underwater welder for various energy companies and sometimes his old seal pup buddies. He told me that those Texas Bull Ants bites feel just like what a white shark bite feels like and if they sting you it's worse than when a hoop snake pokes you with his hard pointed tail. He also said that he would probably rather be gored by a Texas Horny Toad than bit by a Texas Bull Ant.

I think your bsi is wrong for this one. You didnt give it a good bite. You let it knick you. Remember on the bullet ant, its mouth was too small for the forearm so it had to be moved to the finger webbing? Well you know as well as everyone that 145mph bite force would tear clean through the webbing of your finger and then it would start eating the skin and that is why your bsi is made from fear and anxiety

Trap jaw ants are awesome. My favorite species of ants. They not only use their jaws to hunt, but also to escape predators. A trap jaw ant may strike at a predator so that its mandibles bounce of, catapulting the ant over 20 cm away, giving it plenty of room to escape, and potentially crippling the predator. They can also strike at the ground, launching themselves into the air. That's how it managed to evade you like it did, and eventually "teleport" itself off of the table. Also, if you watch them move around when they're exploring, or on the prowl, they have this really interesting way of moving about. Sort of curious and inquisitive.

I was guessing it was a Trapjaw Ant the whole time. I definitely knew it would hurt. I'm surprised the sting felt worse than the bite.

When I first saw my local species from the genus odontomachus, I picked it up with out any hesitation, even I knew it was venomous and could sting me, and did not disappoint I got stung 😂😂😂, it was not very bad and did not last long though, kinda like a nettle. Btw a fun fact about them, they could flee from predators by closing their jaws on the ground and launch themselves away.
