11:25 俺も小学生の頃に、オオスズメバチに刺された事がある。 忘れもしない。 あれは小学校4年生の、夏休み明けのよく晴れた日の朝だった。 俺は目覚し時計と母親に叩き起こされ、いつものように2階の寝室から1階へ駆け下りた。 コップ一杯の水を一気に飲み、顔を洗面所でジャブジャブ洗うのが毎日のルーティンワークだ。 それが終われば、母親がいつもの朝食として、目玉焼きとゴハンと味噌汁とソーセージを用意している。ご機嫌の朝食だ。 俺の苦手なピーマンは見なかった事にする。 母親に見つかる前に、俺は席を立ち、着替えに洗面所へ行く。 我が家の朝の着替えの一部は、自分の部屋ではなく洗面所にあるからだ。 そこで俺は学校に行くために服を着替える。 と、その瞬間、俺は目の前が真っ白になった。 背中の上の方を、まるで拳銃のゼロ距離射撃を受けたかのような、爆発するような熱さと激痛に襲われたからだ。 何が起こったのか、俺は全く理解が出来なかった。 俺にできるのはただ七転八倒し、絶叫を上げる事だけだった。 母親が駆けつけるが、何を言っているのか分からなかった。 俺はただ痛みを訴えるしかできなかった。 小学校高学年にもなって、大粒の涙をボロボロこぼして泣いた。 多分兄弟も俺の情けない姿を診ていた気がするが、よく覚えていない。 すると、母親が近くにいる何かを発見した。 俺はこの時に何がいたのかハッキリ見えてなかった（涙で視界が機能していなかった）。 母親は、母親自ら履いていたスリッパを手にして、その何かを叩き潰した。 後で分かった事だが、その何かはオオスズメバチだった。 オオスズメバチは何度でも刺せる。 近くにいた母親も俺と同じような地獄を味わう可能性かあったわけだ。 なのに専用の装備も何もなく、その場の即興で母親は憎き虫野郎を叩き潰したのだ。 母は偉大だった。 俺は救急車で運ばれた。 その間もずっと痛みで泣いていた記憶しかない。 幸いアナフィラキシーショックや後遺症にはならず、日帰りで退院した。 その日と次の日は学校を休んだ。 後になっての推測だが、オオスズメバチに刺された原因は服にあったと思う。 服を外で日干しし、その時に服の中にオオスズメバチが入り込んでしまい、それに気付かずそのまま取り込み、俺も気付かず服を着て刺されてしまったのだ。 それを教訓に日干しした服を取り込む際には、母親も俺もよく叩いてから取り込むようになった。 オオスズメバチを叩き潰した所は木造で、その痕跡がしばらく残っており、俺はそれを見るたび刺された時の事を思い出して恐怖した。 今はその家も取り壊して、母親は父と喧嘩して出ていってしまったが、あの時の母の勇姿は今でも覚えている。 そして俺は今日も、服を取り込む際と着るときには念入りに叩いてからヨシ！と言いながら着込んで、朝食に昔苦手だったピーマンを食べて朝のスタートを切るのだった。おしまい。

Hi, I am watching this video from Japan. I send my sincere admiration for his courage. Japanese giant hornets often build their nests underground, and are difficult to exterminate because their nests are larger and harder to find than those of yellow wasps and other wasps. If you have the opportunity to walk in Japanese forests, be on the lookout for the aggressive buzzing sound of their wings.

I live in Japan and have been stung by the giant hornet through my shirt in the middle of my back. It isn't uncommon for them to fly into my workshop during a certain time of year, but they usually stay up high and don't bother me. If they do start buzzing in my proximity, I try to hit them with some carburetor cleaner spray which immediately shrivels them up dead. One came after me when I was trimming some bushes outside where it was and I hadn't seen it. I tried to run away when it flew directly at me but it caught up. I did find the sting rather sharp for some minutes, and there was swelling for some days, but soon it was more like getting walloped in my back by a baseball bat, kind of a dull pain but very strong.for a couple of days. The worst part of it by far was the very extreme itching at and around the sting area, it was brutal for three or four days after the initial pain subsided, and I could hardly stand it. I find that itching is pretty common with wasp stings and large ant bites. We have a number of different type wasps over here. I didn't seek any treatment after the giant hornet sting, but have by getting an IV at the hospital when my arm got like a football after another type wasp jabbed me repeatedly. Usually the giant ones pretty much mind their own business, but they also can be very aggressive if they get bothered. I believe that the itching is the body attempting to reject the poison. No matter the Buddhist philosophy about living creatures, If those hornets come into my proximity, or maybe if one is inside buzzing against a window to want to get out, I try to kill them immediately without any mercy, my retribution for getting stung. I know someone that was stung on the face by a giant hornet, no fun at all. Getting stung again by these guys without some considerable time in-between, is said to be very dangerous from shock with the possibility of death occurring.

Only bees die... And the reaction of the hornet is the demonstration that they're not interested in you and in hurting you. They sting only if they feel in danger... And shaking your arms up in the air screaming and running it's the best way to get a sting. You only have to crouch and cover your head with your arms. They will go away in a sec...
