From there, I would watch the next, the next, the next... and when I came to the latest, I went back and watched from the start. It took me some time, but it's been worth it. Where i live i travel over the moors to work and on a monday you can see piles of rubbish and litter left in lay bys after the weekend. Its a problem which is rife everywhere and created by people whom do not have any respect or thought for anything but themselves......and we are 'saving the planet' for these types 🤔. Well done for clearing it and thanks to the other boaters who took it home. 🐶🐶🐶😘

I'm in the US and we camp and hike at State and National Parks. We always take extra bags hiking to collect garbage. I've gotten my granddaughters, 5 & 3, into collecting and crack up when they say "These are bad people who leave trash Memaw." Teaching them young so they don't become of the problem but rather the solution.

Hello Debbie, hello Mark First of all I am glad Debbie is going on well after the scare she experienced last year. I have been viewing some of your videos and have seen there seems to be a problem with the word navigable. It is a straight forward word broken up as follows NAV- IGABLE. I hope this helps in your what I hope is many vlogs to come in the future,. It is also lovely to see Debbie handling the boat confidently. Keep it all going it’s really great. I hope you didn’t mind me helping you out with the answer to this pronunciation.

That trip down the tidal Gt.Ouse and the swinging round to moor up takes me back. When I was somewhat younger and in my teens my parents had a 27' yogurt pot. For our annual holiday it was decided we would leave the safety of the non tidal part of the River Medway and go to sea, round the corner, and up the Thames. We ran with the tide up the Thames, avoiding chunks of wood, floating trees and pallets only to run out of time at Southwark Bridge. The tide had turned and we did not have the power to go against the current. We tide up alongside some steel 'lighters' midstream and spent the night with St. Pauls Cathedral as our view. The next day we continued on to Teddington Lock and then enjoyed a couple of weeks on the upper reaches of the Thames. The problem was we had to do the return trip. That tidal Thames down through London in a smallish underpowered boat was very scary. Well done you two. All this typing has made me thirsty........time for an Adnams or maybe a Woodfordes 🍺

It's such a shame you have to pick up after others, but it's kind and generous to do so. Some kid complaining about who owns the river or even that pontoon is being defensive, you guys have the high ground. Very interesting about the tidal fluctuations and looking out for sand bars. Being from Minnesota (Land of 10,000 lakes 😁), I can't help but think a little garmin depth finder would be very welcome in such a location. But, I realize that's yet another expense. Still...you did recover the downed drone and got it working again. If you're planning more tidal cruising, a depth finder would be a nice bit of kit. 😁

To those saying the river is for everyone - they are correct, but it is not for people to pollute/trash facilities or otherwise spoil. (And some of the facilities are reserved for certain users, such as EU moorings). I've read of a farmer who got fed up of people picnicking in his fields during growing season, so damaging crops. He tracked a regular offender down and then took some of his mates to the offender's house and had a barbeque in their front garden. Big argument when the house owner arrived home, but it made the point. If the litter you collected was to be thrown in the party goer's gardens would they learn anything?
@welldeckdiaries56102 жыл бұрын
Totally agree the river is for everyone but the visitor moorings are for boats only. It would have been fun to find the culprits and return their rubbish 😂🤣
@user-xw6wj2qh5n2 жыл бұрын
@@welldeckdiaries5610 Yes, I did say the moorings are reserved for certain users, so boaters. That said, if well behaved and not littering I would even turn a blind eye to a few people using the pontoons during a heat wave, but given their anti social behaviour that doesn't look like a good idea. The few spoiling things for the many.

Hello Debbie, Hello Mark and I forgot the doggies too. I really hope I didn’t offend you but I do follow your videos a great deal and really enjoy them and it was really concerning me that each time that came into the vlog there was a stumble so I took it upon myself to try to smooth it over, hope you didn’t mind Quentin

🤣😂 Don’t worry, It takes a lot to offend us Do you mind if I ask how your stepdaughter got on with her treatment, I’m alway scared to ask these questions

A nice ferry glide when you arrive in KL. I must do that trip sometime. As a matter of interest, were your insurers interested at all in this trip?

I haven't heard from my insuresr so I assume they don't watch 🤣😂

Well done guys…. Moored like a pro and glad you had a great time there. Shame about Downham Market. There happy to take the stuff down there but not happy to take it away!!! Some people have no consideration. Sure they’d have something to say if you dumped it on their doorstep!!!!!

Great vlog as always! Mark, what camera were you using because the video quality on the river was exellent. You should do a vlog on your equipment you use the quality is really good.

Did you manage to get hold of a chart to show where the sand banks were, or did you work it all out from your walks along the river bank? I can't find anything on the internet, but would love to do that trip if I ever get that far!

The banks shift and move, a local group reposition the red makers each week to show where they are

Great vlog. We are planning to do the Denver to King's Lynn trip this summer and I'm just checking that one hugs the bank where the red and white posts mark safe navigation? I've never met such navigation marks before. Also, you mentioned the canal planner predicted time for the passage, but do you remember the actual time taken? Thanks.
@welldeckdiaries5610 Жыл бұрын
I took an hour less than the canal planner time. Ill have to check on the other

On the relief channel what was it like going to Downham is there any flow or under currents whilst your travelling? Loved your video always do, you both look well xx
@welldeckdiaries56102 жыл бұрын
No flow on the relief channel. There was a few kids jumping of the bridge and swimming to the moorings when we was there

I'm pretty sure the young folks will change their tune as they gain a few years and their favorite spots are ruined by the young. Sadly it's not all of them but if they don't speak up to the rascals the varmints will prevail. I am glad you spoke up. If nobody says anything then its for sure nothing will change. I wish you and your beautiful family the sweetest and kindest and healthiest of years. Cheers 🍻
