i started playing brawl casually in 2020, and recently started playing multiversus. It made me want to learn about Smash Melee as its the OG platform fighter, and i will say it is truly entertaining

Smash is so unhinged in the best way and the competitive scene is 100% community cultivated on top of having a really rich history. BH misses out on a lot due to the complete lack of offline events outside of bmg sanctioned majors. Why is no one making that stuff happen?

its hard to host lan events because u cant have every character in offline modes and i think its also because the only optimal way to play at lan is if u buy like 30+ expensive computers with 240hz monitors which is way more expensive than just a couple consoles. theres also just no real local brawl scene cuz everyone is a casual

yeah true the tourney dev build or whatever is really holding us back, I think the setups could be somewhat overlooked but then again I'm also lucky enough to have a gaming lounge close by with 15+ solid PC setups. But then like you said getting people to attend events (and keep attending) in a game geared towards casual play is really difficult
