@@lorenzmuller3542 people say that as a way to get inexperienced drummers to play them at the same volume. We have a natural tendency to accent the second kick because it falls on the beat.

@@tissuepaper9962 Personally when i hear brazillian music I feel the first hit lighter than the full stroke. Especially when I watch surdo players, since they usually place their hand on the drum as a pickup to the actual stroke.

@@BlueGamesInc normally when I hear a samba played on a 4-piece drumkit (mostly thinking bossa nova) they're the same volume. Street samba is a totally different animal that I don't have a whole lot of experience listening to, so perhaps you are right.
