The Arm Triangle is one of the most dangerous submission in BJJ. By Mastering this escape you will be very difficult to submit with this attack. Make sure to take your time mastering this drill. It will not only make you harder to sub but will also help you develop a smooth bjj style.

This worked on the first try during sparring, on a training partner 35 kg heavier than me. It took me awhile to remember it, but I will never forget it now. Thanks, Firas!

taner raven if u cant try to setup and grab your leg and then u will notice room for you to move your arm out and put it on his neck. All get your arm out to the arm triangle position but only should be used as a last resort

2020: Highly likely that 2 ppl just watching YT videos and practicing w each other would be better grapplers in a couple of years than someone who just goes to a BJJ school a couple of days a week.... I've learned more by watching videos like this than in 6-12 months of classes ~ Good video. 👍 'd #Paxus Rating: ☆☆ ½

I train with a friend sometimes who is far better grappler than me, and he often arm triangles me. So far I've learned one escape I saw from Dean Lister which is being done after the fact the grip has been closed in on you already. But the guy is just too strong for me so I haven't had much luck with it. I think this might work though. I like these preemptive escapes. As Kurt Osiander would say, you f..ked a long time ago since you're in that position. Smart guy. :) Thnx for the videos!

No need. Just pick your fav move. My fav moves : kata gatame, kesa gatame, hadaka jime, morote gari. Learn how to do it correctly and how to defend it properly, do it over and over again every day untill youre good at it and dont forget mount and side mount defense too. You cant be a black belt but you may be good at self defense. Dont try to fight anybody.

Out of all these great techniques you know.. when training with high level guys do you know techniques your gonna do in your mind or do you roll off feel and reaction. Also do you recommend keeping a notebook when training to really memorize & study and perfect all these offense & defense & counter techniques because there's so many options from each position in grappling and in striking it seems difficult to keep track of all them. Thanks firas! I've learned a lot from this channel !

My only thing is it’s a good escape but you’re not escaping your arm triangle you’re escaping before you actually get into the arm triangle. What that is this a different way of ghosting. A lot of people call that the anaconda choke

Fantastic detail Coach Zahabi. This has made it so much easier to escape this choke. The arm detail was crucial as people have taken my back from this escape previously. I have a question. Braulio Estima (and others) have a variation of the kata gatame where they simply drop a hip from the mount rather than getting off in order to exert pressure. How would you counter this when the mounted hooks makes the runaway unfeasible?
