Now I'm doubly jealous of your bonsai pots! HAHA! I'm going to the city today to visit my father at the care facility (He has Alzheimer's) and to check up on a friend's wife as he has been away. I need to do some maintenance there on their house as she is unable to, she has MS. I think I will stop at a few second hand shops and see what I can see... My kids want to do another prune on their Ficus trees when I come home. Enjoy the peace that snowfall brings! I find it gets so quiet when the big snowflakes start!

Nice work on the BRT. Seen some of those here in FL grown to look just like a large umbrellas. Just amazing looking! Last one I saw had a sacrifice branch growing though the canopy and about 3 feet above. The BRT was already about 3 to 4 feet tall, so the sacrifice branch was about 5 to 6 feet long.

Grown two Brazilian Rain Trees and love these trees! Was so devastated when I lost my first one (my very first bonsai). Given the right conditions, they grow like weeds and are a bit of work to control but soo beautiful. Their habit of 'going to sleep' by folding in their leaves is so interesting to me. I'm doing my in a pretty typical upright style, simply because I am still very new and that seems like the most beginner friendly attempt. The style you have in mind for you're sounds SO interesting and cool! Can't wait to see the work on it in the future :).

Nigel Saunders, The Bonsai Zone it will thrive for sure outside when the weather breaks. They grow crazy fast!! Once you bring back indoors under artificial light it will most likely lose its leaves, but it’s ok. BRTs tend to do this, but they will be replaced shortly after with lush new growth. This is something I always mention to others when they get their first one so they don’t panic when it happens haha. Looking forward to seeing this one develop. Thanks again for all the great videos!!

The floor of the car scenery is quite reflective. May I suggest a matte, bokeh context? What modeller, what renderer did you use? Numerous notes on the car model itself come to mind, like e.g. the door gaps that are only visible below the horizontal bulge etc.pp., more subtle things like incomplete continuity of face curvature or the odd looks of the horizontal bulge extending to the front wheel arch, but then again: The model is a work in progress and will address those issues anyway.

Hey, Nigel, cut those thorns back about half way in the areas you'll be working and you won't get stuck. I saw that on someone else's channel and it seemed like a pretty good idea. By the way; you really should write a book and use the proceeds to enlarge your pot collection. And no kindle please. Just good old paper one can hold in their hands. I would buy a copy. Have a blessed day.

Hi what are the effects of cutting a bit from the roots?
@TheBonsaiZone
@TheBonsaiZone 5 жыл бұрын
Every time you cut the roots, you will get more roots growing from around the cut point. The more fine root hairs on the root system, the more water and nutrients the tree can take in, so you get better growth. The large quantity of feeder roots can support a large canopy of leaves.Generally the roots should mirror the canopy.

I share your fascination for the trees (or any plant) who move their leaves! I enjoyed this video even more than usual because of the tree. I hope to get my hands on some seeds from the specie (or related). I do have some Acacia, Albizia and Leucaena to try out. I can't afford the expencive plant health certificates for import of plants, so I'm limited to seeds. I guess it is good that I like my trees small (and don't have room for large bonsai) ;) Can you understand why there are so few tropical trees available in Norway? :D Luckily, the seeds prevent me from only keeping ficus.

Hi Mr.Saunders I'm Daniel from Germany. I like your your videos very much they are very inspiring. I'm in love with this BRT and I think about to have one . I'm trying to make a albizia julibrissin. I think the tree is better for become it through the winter and the leaves are quite similar and it have nice flowers. Do you have a albizia? Keep up the good work you have wonderful trees!

I do have one that I am growing from seed, I had about 6 seeds germinate, but only the one strongest seedling survived. It is about 2 1/2 years old now and it is growing well. When it gets a little bigger, I'll make a first video about it. Thanks Daniel!

@TheBonsaiZone

The older leaves will turn yellow as they are slowly replaced with new growth. If everything is going yellow, it may be a watering problem or a location problem.

Is the tree also known as moringa tree? They look VERY similar.
@TheBonsaiZone

They are two different trees, but have similar compound leaves. The Moringa is more suited to a dry climate, while the Brazilian rain tree loves the tropics!

That tree from India looks like a mimosas pudica, aka the sensitive tree. I had one but it didn't do well moving to my new home. Their leaves fold up at night, and from touch. You should try growing some of them from seed. I did well mame bonsai style

The Brazilian Rain Tree (Chloroleucon Tortun/Chloroleucon Tenuiflorum/Chrloroleucon Dumosum) are one of the most used species for bonsais here in Brazil. The photos shown in this video look more like Enterolobiubns, wich are a very similar specie but much bigger then the Chloroleucons. Chloroleucons can reach abot 12 m high (40 ft high), Enterolobiuns, however, can reach 25 m high (65 to 70 ft). Chloroleucons ocour naturally at the southeastern brazilian cost, close to the sea. It can resist in sandy and salty soil but grow faster in bonsai soil composed by river sand, organic soil and red soil. This last one very common in Brasil and very good to prevent lack of iron for plant development, wich is a very common problem in Brazilian Rain Tress which can be identified by yellowed leafs.

Hey Nigel! Just a advice from a fellow brazilian bonsaist. This tree has some serious problems with die back. Always prune a branch when its already woody, otherwise you'll risk lose it... never expectate a green branch to sprout again when pruned

Also, if you wanna know more about our trees, you should look the brazilian rain tree (pithecollobium tortum) cousin, the pithecollobium dumosum. Smaller leaves, really cool bark texture. Also, the Calliandras are really famous here, in special Calliandra Spinosa, with the crazy looking bark, caliandra brevipes, caliandra depauperata and the other ones... they are a really pretty flowering species!
