It’s great to make them a spagnum Moss hide with it super moist. They love to burrow down in it and it is awesome for 1 piece sheds. I love Rainbows. I also have a 13 year old female Colombian Red Tailed Boa. She is so big she intimidates my friends. Lol

if it was at a petsmart or petco don't, they stock brbs but advertise terrifyingly low stats for its humidity and way too high for its heat requirements. 80 cold side for a BRB is way way too hot

I love my "Herm the Worm" Brazilian Rainbow. You're right. He was quite the little pistol when I first got him (quite the nippy little dude), but he's really chill now. I got him in early January (he was about 6 months old). Now, I can just reach in and pick him up and he's very well relaxed. I guess they get used to your scent and realize you're not trying to eat them?

Humidity Tip: PVC enclosure. Radiant heat panel. Mix your Forrest floor and eco earth 70/30 (70 Forrest floor) with a little bit of sphagnum moss crumpled in there. Large water bowl (if your humidty is dropping move the water bowl closer to heat panel. Mix water in with your eco earth when u put it in to keep humidity up. Also I think there's a coco substrate on Amazon called Josh's Frogs? Might be wrong, but that's a soaking wet coco substrate it's spectacular.

Interesting to hear other people’s experiences and approaches. For example my adults never go off feed even during breeding or even when my female is gravid. They’re chow hounds in my experience. I also get away from weekly feeding once they’re eating prey items like small rats and up. With lower temps these guys don’t process food fast at all so weekly feeding rats resulted in obese rainbows. So my adults eat once every 3-4 weeks during the year unless prepping for breeding season. Your animal there is huge for 2 there I thought for sure you were going to say that animal was closer to four years old. Gotta love hungry rainbows who eat well. And yes babies are snappy little stinkers for the first month and are also the best eaters right after being born! Love how easy babies are to establish. Cool video. Way to promote the species. I love them and more people need to start keeping these Boas! I’m going to go enjoy my newest litter and oggle over the iridescence and colors. Bowie is gorgeous btw. You should find a nice male for him 😉

But i bought the boa because i noticed he was being neglected.. owner was forgetting to feed it for weeks and humidity was low and the snake was just ignored Now I've found that the snake is very moody .. if u touch him he bucks u off and hisses.... anything i can do to make him happier? Ive done all his vivarium properly. But he don't seem right?

Reptilian Garden so If i wear gloves to pick him up will he strike after I pick him up? I actually just got him today from black water reptiles.com. I’ve had a brb before but never a striker like this. He literally struck me 4 times today alone. I still love him very much and am not afraid to be struck I just don’t want him to be afraid of me. I was told to wear a sock all day then when I come home to put the sock in his hiding place to associate me with security.
@reptiliangarden6 жыл бұрын
Preacha Napoli You can try to put some clothes in the enclosure. The snake will strike as long as it doesn’t feel safe. It will take time. They are known to be feisty as babies but calm down fairly quickly. Just make sure you aren’t over stressing the snake so that it doesn’t eat. It shouldn’t be handled the first week you get it home. It needs time to adjust to its new home

When you've a snake that's a big food lover and gets a little too excited about the prospect of being fed, it's best to feed them in a feeding rub. This way they only associate you opening the viv as you either lifting them out or doing some stuff round the enclosure. My corn was very bad for it, after I started doing this she's become so much more placid

That is a gorgeous snake. But feeding s rat 1/week is too many and that’s probably why she skipped a few feeds on you. Since the temps aren’t high, they take longer to digest meals than other animals of similar size. Most pros recommend feeding every 2-3 weeks at that age and every 3 weeks as adults
