I rarely leave comments on videos, but this one helped me out tremendously! I gave a presentation on the causes of breast cancer today and the BCRA mutations were still a bit fuzzy in my mind for whatever reason. I watched your video an hour before just to brush up and it helped more than I could have imagined it would. The presentation was flawless! thank you! I will be watching more of your videos!

Thank you so much for this wonderful presentation. I have the BRCA1 mutation myself (as do other members of my family). This is a fantastic presentation of some of the detail about how this gene works at cellular level and what can happen when it is faulty. I had ovarian cancer (actually, primary peritoneal cancer, which is very similar) in 2014, was successfully treated and am living to tell the tale! Tracy, Bathurst, Australia

Your family doctor will tell you a nearby lab where you can get this done. Have insurance before you get tested as this can cost thousands.

I have homozygous mutations on both BRCA1 and BRCA2. I can’t find any info on that scenario. I have an appointment with oncology in a couple weeks. Are the risks greater with homozygous mutations or with having mutations on both genes?

My mom has ovarian cancer with BRCA mutation, it's a risk for me. .?
@jmaz0444 Жыл бұрын
If you’re a woman yes if you’re a man no since men don’t have ovaries, however there’s a 50% chance of you inheriting the mutation from your mum it doesn’t mean you’ll get cancer it just means you’re at higher risk of developing cancer mainly breast but for women ovarian too and for men prostate too also pancreatic. The BRCA2 mutation is in 3 generations of my family my grandma, mum and sister. My grandma got pancreatic cancer and passed away however my mum got breast cancer and survived it’s mainly down to genetics 🤷🏽♂️ knowing my luck I’ll have the mutation too
@viorelscrob6391 Жыл бұрын
@@jmaz0444 I am a man. ...so it's 50% risck for me? ......i mean my mother sister had ovarian cancer and her brother thyroid cancer , but my grandparents they didn't have the mutation.
@venomv27069 ай бұрын
@@viorelscrob6391 You should test . For more precautions. As you are a man there is chance for Pancreatic cancer. ( I know you will neglect in your food and drinks so you should test .
