Honestly, I can’t get over how clean the aesthetics are. I could definitely benefit from a larger sweet spot. Plus it stacks up incredibly well with its wide body competitors!

I have a 14 mm Mach 2 Forza and I love it after coming off The double black diamond 14 mm and gearbox pro power. I have switched to being all in on the standard wide body vs the hybrid and elongated paddles. Unforced errors go way down, control and accuracy goes way up. Can’t wait to see how this compares.

I had the opportunity to try this paddle a couple weeks ago thanks to an ambassador that plays at our local courts (big thank you Josh!). My favorite paddles currently in my bag are the Mark Pickleball Kenetic and Spartus Apollo. With the Fat Boy I feel it falls between the these paddles as far as the wide body vs hybrid shape. Performance wise, it has similar pop and power to the Kenetic with the sweet spot of the Apollo without having to add lead strips. One way or another, the Fat Boy will be finding its way to into my hands.

Another Awesome review. This is an amazing paddle. It has everything that I need in a paddle. I added 3 grams in the same position and a 1 ounce Slyce Sport speed cap. For me the speed cap made flicks, backhand rolls, and any offensive shots at the kitchen even more effective and consistent.

@@AllDriveNoDropPickleball I experimented with mine. Took the cap on and off for several days. I ended up settling on using the 1 oz cap plus tungsten it just was best for my playing taste. Obviously the overall static weight increased but it really doesn’t feel heavier. The static weight seems more of a personal preference to me. Maybe the static weight has more to do with the manufacturing process and material cost control for the brand than anything and the Brands just use weight as an additional marketing point? Swing and Twist weights looses a lot of rec or players that don’t get it to begin with.

I really need this paddle because my wife beats me. She played tennis at collegiate level and I can count on one hand the amount of times that I've beat her. 3 times out of maybe 30. We're both beginners at pickleball and we've been using wood paddles. I think this paddle just may give me the edge to at least count my wins on 2 hands. Great review, btw.

The two things I find to be the most intriguing about this paddle are first the Kevlar and carbon fiber blend. Secondly I have never used a wide body paddle before and would love to try one out as I have heard the sweet spot is bigger on them.

One note - I would not push for a discount code from Thompson. I get that it’s “industry” standard, but I think for 100% American handcrafted with proprietary tech, $249.00 is an EXCELLENT and fair price. Compared to what we saw this year with Joola at $300.
