i'm 58 this year. Since this song was brand new in 1971, I haven't been able to listen to it without tearing up. David Gates is one of the most incredible male vocalists of the 70's and early 80s. From "If" to "Goodbye Girl", his voice and his arrangements are painfully beautiful.
