@MarkWintleFishing I take a look at the basics of bread punch fishing using plain brown crumb as groundbait, hoping to catch roach on the upper Dorset Stour.

"Come out you bastard....bastard!". Ah the gentle lament of many an angler when a big fish dives for the snags. :)

A great video, thanks for sharing! Bread punch or small breadflakes are my favourite bait. I use it all the time. Mostly 8-12mm on size 12-14 hooks. On the whip, with a light bolo-set-up or bomb and feeder. A XS-sized feeder and liquidized bread workes really well for me. Primary target-species in the warmer months are roach, rudd, bleak, silver bream and bream. In the winter massive ide and chub fell for bread-punch over here.

As a bread punch freek (my mates term not mine). I always bake my liquidised bread until slightly brown it is great slightly dampened down but mixes better with gross gardons (which I now use after watching your videos

I've been buying crumb in bulk since the days of Kestrel Anglers Crumb (white) back in 1972, mostly brown crumb, and this is the first bag of brown that has stodgy. The previous bag of brown was so hard to get to bind at all it needed to be either mixed with some white or Gros Gardons. I've had the odd bag go fausty. I have baked a small amount since that trip so will see what it's like.

16 punch? are we talking 16 mm seems large for a 16s hook.

I make my own punches from brass tube and hard balsa (they float unlike commercially made ones!) so I just label each punch with the appropriate hook size. I bought the tube decades ago so it's in imperial sizes not metric, e.g. 11/32", but I can tell you the '16' punch has an internal diamer of 7.5mm, and the slightly smaller one, 6.5mm. The first punches I made were using .22" brass cartridges which were ideal for an 18. Later I bought breadpunches with interchangeable heads for the small sizes, and got some old brass ferrules for larger ones.
