I absolutely love the British tournament floats. I bought one many years ago in a tackle shop. The only one in the store! I used it for many years, even hooked into a huge bass on a nightcrawler with my 20ft fiberglass pole with it. When it finally fell apart, I was sad to see it go😣😁👍👍

Mark Roberts Hi Mark glad you enjoyed the video. In my opinion a vastly underused and very effective bait for both big and small fish

Hi Bill, tried bread punch on the Coventry canal with an elasticated 4m whip. Very hot day and blanked. Still it was a lovely few hours by the waterside looking at wildlife. Don't know what I was doing wrong but due to try again hopefully in a less shaggy swim!

Mark Askew Hi well here are a few pointers that might help you catch. Find a swim where the ducks etc are regularly fed by the public, they are banker spots as the fish know food is there. Fish near cover, moored boats, overhanging trees and bushes etc. In bright conditions fish will retreat to spots they feel safer in. If the canal is clear make sure your rigs are not to crude, thick lines big hooks etc. If you are a beginner using ready tied rigs I would recommend the ready tied Drennan AS3 rigs in the 0.3 gram size. Are you feeding liquidised bread? If so one ball the size of a satsuma is about right. Your local tackle shop might point you to a good area on the canal. If all else fails sit back in a comfortable chair and enjoy the wildlife and being outside! Tight Lines

Easy Fishing Thanks for taking the time to advise Bill. I think my rig was ok 1.5 lb mainline with a Size 16 tied to 1 lb fluoro hooklength. Used a .2g AS type float. The weather was very hot and bright and the canal was full of fry which usually stripped the punch like little piranhas! I think it was just on of those days. If I’d had maggots or casters I might have caught but then how do you learn to fish punch if you don’t try? Also might need a better punch! Tight lines Bill and keep the videos coming :)

Good video cheers for bringing us this. I take it with the balls that it makes the bread into, the bread puncher is able to keep the bread on the hook? i've had problems fishing with bread before as the bread kept falling off. I had it as just straight from a slice of bread and i'd squash it into a ball with my fingers but i think that was causing it to break and fall off. I know another way of fishing with bread is to just take a bit off a slice and put that on the hook so it is as it is in flake format which is buoyant good for fishing the surface or as a pop up. My bro fished with the bread like that free lining on the surface for Chub last summer and caught a few, i just cant seem to get bread to stay on the hook, at least not for long.

cns180784 . Hi have a look at my ‘Bread Punch for the Hook’ video. The punch just cuts a small circle out of a slice which you put on the hook. What matters is the type of bread used, to dry and it won’t stay on the hook. A quick tip is to take a slice and microwave it for about 5 seconds then compress with a rolling pin this when cut with the Punch will stay on the hook much better. You have to accept that the bread will come off on the retrieve. You can use it on a hair rig on the bomb, very successful for Carp, use a big Punch for this about 10 mm and mount 2 or 3 pieces on the hair. Tight Lines.
