I'm retired Cat mechanic, & I'm not a machinist, hydraulic system / power trains for Cat & for others types, Never worked on farming equipment, my grandfather used a model G A-C tractor, before that, Farmall. Pretty slick move, cutting that face back . milling the shaft down. I had a number of Pumps that were er marked Cat pumps sent to me. I'm 75. although Cat didn't manufacture their vain pumps, I got a lot of swash plate pumps that needed to be R&R, I had a test bench for transmissions and pumps., it's been over 30 years ago, This reminds me of a cat specs for a swash plate pump, in no way was it was going to meet specks the way it was said to set it up. in fact it was backwards, in short after a day of messing around, ordering & reordering. I had the inside of the head port for the buffer pin milled down, after that I was able to shim operating specks. Back in the day, Cat. manufactures do not always get it right. ether the factory is off, passing off to an outfit like cat something in the ball park, or missing the mark altogether. Frankly often missing the mark thinking I can save a buck here at your expense, put a coupler back in if possible. I see your J-D is a rather sophisticated machine. and your Mill right machinist is got it all handled. He's been this rout before. your walking ion tall cotton. The Lord Be with You All. I'm a believer. The Lord said he blesses the farmers who bless him. amen I may not be back this way, I have cancer, DEUT.. 11:V-13-15... Deut:...V-28:v-8... Jeremiah... 17:V-7-8...... I knew a couple of country guys who had machine shops back in the 60's who could do this kind of work. The best of it was they were usually very busy but always there to help out in an emergency. Go to a city machine shop and you'll probably see shop hours posted on the door, don't expect them to open up after hours when you need help! Nice shop, and Tim is my kind of guy. Great video, waiting to see that picker work. 👍
