7:34 this bag will work great for a summer packing list. Anywhere from 60* f and up. When you can get away with a bivy sack and some kind of blanket instead of a full sleep system.

6:17 I have a similar mysteryranch pack, the Komodo dragon. Essentially the military version of this. I found it’s a great 3 day pack for the summer. If you have to bring extra layers it’s just to small. That’s actually why I’m watching this video need a bigger winter pack. Anyways I have the same issue with the water bottle. I just keep two of the issued canteens one on each side. They fit pretty well even with a loaded pack. I also will typically have water on my plate carrier.

The sawtooth bag has the capability to add a lid for added capacity. For the Metcalf and beartooth bags, if you're not at capacity and don't want the lid on the outside, you can still load it up and just put it in the bag. Also, Mystery Ranch has the beartooth and pintler Bag Only option. For more versatility, guys will buy the Sawtooth complete pack and the beartooth bag only. This way, they have day hunts and multi-day excursions covered between both bags. Great review, it's super helpful to see what fits it each pack and the features each bag provides. Thank you!

Great info.

I have the beartooth and storing the lid internally is the way to go when the pack is light. I like doing this so the items I keep in there stay in the same place whether I'm packing light or fully loaded. Also it obviously takes care of the sagging lid issue.

Need a time breakdown of each bag. It would really help when searching for a certain model.
@gearfool Жыл бұрын
What do you mean by time breakdown? Are you referring to the amount of time it takes to breakdown each model bag in use of its meat shelf, or the length of time (days) each model bag could support on a backpacking trip? Thanks!

First off.. Thanx for showing these packs. Good job!! :) I was wondering if you ever compared the straps on some of these packs? I have noticed my pack has a more firm foam on the Yoke, compared to another pack i have with the exact same Yoke size/shape but with a more softer foam. According to Mystery Ranch they both use the expedition yoke, but for sure the foam is different.

Thanks for the comment, I am not 100% sure but I believe they updated the foam thickness a year or two ago. It's subtle, but like you, I have noticed that some of the older packs seem to have less padding than the newer ones. I don't believe they make any mention of it in model names. -Brady

Damn, that sleeping bag is bigger than my quilt, sleeping pad, pillow and tent combined. I'm guessing your in a extremely cold environment

At times yes! I prefer to over-pack a sleep system, nothing's worse than sleeping cold.
