I would never trust a garage that provides a breakdown recovery service. They will more than likely be opportunists. Always take your time to find a local independent recommended garage if possible.

This is just who my breakdown cover contacted, I think they’re supposed to take me to a garage but they instead got a mechanic to come to them which was odd

I have been following your channel for a while now and I really enjoy watching you and your videos. So glad to see that although you came very close to being scammed that you soon realised that all wasn't well. Take care now and stay vigilant of these sorts of horrible people. replacing a head gasket and probably resurfacing the warped head of an engine is a major job, any garage would need the go ahead from the owner before starting work, also it would be easy to see after if the engine has recently been reassembled from things like new sealant, knowing the motor trade and italians they were probably trying to scam you till you turned up snooping around . If you ever need work like this done be firm and insist on photographs of the work in progress and keep the old parts as proof.

Glad it's all sorted Shan. Maybe it could've been a genuine error on their behalf but then again if it wasn't for the Ford guy calling the garage, maybe he scared them in to action. Who knows?

Shannon it's sounds like a scam what they thought you would say is just do the job and charge you thousands of euros but thank God you got your van bk garages are con artist
