This legendary 30+ minute set in BABYMETAL history is called by some the "Miracle at Sonisphere". Imagine being 15-16 years old originally set for a small side tent (expecting maybe a couple thousand to show) to being upgraded a couple months before the show to the main stage in front of 65,000+ people BUT 95+% of them never heard of you before, some came to hate on you (based on their videos up to this point like "Gimme Chocolate" which had gone viral a few months before and thought they were a joke or gimmick), and the Sonisphere crowd are known to throw stuff at the acts if they don't like them! But by the end of their 30-ish minute set, the crowd is chanting "We want more! We want more!", which you can see and hear at the end of this video. They had the largest pits and wall of death's, as well as sold the most merch out of all the acts performing at that event (Metallica, Iron Maiden, etc). This show was an important part of them blowing up outside of Japan and is considered a major moment in BABYMETAL history. This is why this show is my favorite of all their shows! As a Brit myself, I'm proud that the fans behaved themselves for the kids. We've all been to festivals where headcases and nutters ruin it for everyone and it would have been easy for them to start getting all "This isn't real metal" and start tossing stuff. Shows how legit the band is.

This was a very special performance for the girls. The band was expecting a much smaller crowd, and so were the organizers, so there wasn't enough concession food for the all festival attendees who showed up that day. There were a few pepperoni pizzas, but they sold out early, and someone found a few bags of cold nacho cheese, but no actual nachos to dip into it. After their set, BABYMETAL heard that the crowd might have to go hungry until 5ish when the chip trucks were scheduled to arrive. They hurriedly pooled together the food they had. Moa had a container of sushi her mom had prepared for her, and Yui had a small basket of tomatoes. As the fans filed by, Moa would offer a California roll, and Su sat with the little knife she keeps in her microphone and sliced Yui's tomatoes and passed them out. With that meager amount of food, they somehow managed to feed all 60,000 fans well enough to give them energy to enjoy the following acts. Legend says they didn't even need to open the nacho cheese bags.

All of us are super tired from the whole show, but there's one part in our choreography where we all walk to the center and look into each others' eyes and it's like, "OK, let's do this." It also reflects to where we are in reality. I am glad that you watched this legendary their live show. I would like you to watch end part, "See you", but it is OK. Su- was 16 (going to 17), and Yui & Moa were 15 at this time. This song was the last song of their stage for 30-40 minutes. Metalheads in the UK had already heated up, but at first.. Thank you from Japan.

Su-Metal is the ultimate badass. Suzuka Nakamoto is a huge dork. Adorable and giggly. Such the antithesis of Su-Metal. On stage she is the Goddess of Metal. Off stage she is the Queen of Cute. And the guitarist you pointed out is Mikio Fujioka who sadly passed away in 2018. He always had a smile on his face. The drummer you thought was so good is Hideki Aoyama. He's a machine on drums. Filling out the band is Leda Cygnus on guitar and Boh on bass. Two more world class players. You've already been told about the circumstances of the show. ⚡ 💀 💕 / 🚫 They were bumped up to a bigger stage once their music video for 'Gimme Chocolate!!' started to go viral outside of Japan. That was a couple of months before the Sonisphere appearance. My favorite part of 'Ijime, Dame, Zettai' is still the part where Su threatens to kick Yui and Moa in the head if they don't stop bullying each other. And this anti-bullying song gets some of the biggest mosh pits. : ) I can't imagine the strength of nerve it took for a 16 year old Su, and just turned 15 year olds Yui and Moa to take that stage. And to leave them wanting more. I'd say they made some new fans that day. They followed this up with a headlining concert at The Forum in London two days later. This was a classic Kami Band line-up with Mikio Fujioka (RIP) and Leda Cygnus guitars, BOH on bass and Hideki Aoyama on drums.

My favorite part in this song is when Yui and Moa are in praying pose and Su sings: Namida mise-zu ni, nakidashi-soona yoru wa kokoro no oku no heya ni hitori. Kizutsuketa no wa hoka no dareka dake ja naku kizuka-nai furi shiteta nakama. I didn't show my tears, and in the night I was about to cry, in a room deep inside my heart, I stayed alone. Those who hurt me were not only someone else, but also those who pretended not to notice. It was my friend. I turn 50 later this year and because like an idiot I missed out on seeing them when they came to San Francisco in late 2019 a few months before the pandemic hit, I'm getting myself ready for when they do come back here. I'm in the process of getting back in shape and losing weight so I can safely experience a circle/mosh pit and wall of death for the first (hopefully not last) time. Good one again and thanks for doing this performance, it really was a special one in the grand scheme of BABYMETAL history. 'Ijime, Dame, Zettai' means Bullying, No More, For Ever - so Yui and Moa were having a fight in the choreo until Su stepped between them and threatened to kick them both in the head if they didn't stop. It wasn't raining at Sonisphere that year. If you want to see them perform in the heaviest UK rain look for 'Karate' live at Download (or Drownload) 2016. It rained so hard their set was delayed by 40 minutes for the equipment to be covered with plastic and for water to be swept off the stage - and then it pissed down hard again while they were playing ... and the crowd all stayed to watch and enjoy them.

Glad you're coming back so soon with more BM songs \m/ The most memorable festival for the girls outside of Japan, but fun thing is they didn't even notice about how huge was this until very later on. This performance is full of stories, emotions flowing is unavoidable, SuMetal voice slash every place around, and the overflowing energy of Yui and MoaMetal is just insane. The girls despite all the technical issues they had manage to keep carry on which make this live performance even more touchy, such the problem with in ear monitor of MoaMetal or her fall while doing the fight scene but the cam didn't show that, or the piece of the red skirt ripped off of YuiMetal floting around and annoying her, you can see their faces not having a good time but despite all of that they carry on with the show and they did it so damn good. You did the fox sign right, Fox God is proud of you, let's go with that cosplay, why not? 🦊🤘 They did exclusive live shows and more festival performance after that, so come back whenever you want. Great reaction. At this time the largest festival outside of Japan for the group, about 60K. They only played 5 songs, but by the time they ended the crowd was chanting "we want more". At the time Su was 16, Yui and Moa were almost 15. Yui was the one that had to leave the band due to health reasons, in the video she the one whose red dress started to unravel.

Actually, Yui had turned 15 about 2 weeks before and Moa's 15th Birthday was the day Before this show!! So Su-metal was 16 and Yui and Moa were both 15.

Su wasn't new to big crowds even at that young age :D Before being in Babymetal, she was in a J-Pop group called Karen Girls, and sang the songs for the anime "Zettai Karen Children". With that group she did a show at the Saitama Super Arena in front of 20k people, while being 10 years old :)

also before they went out on stage they honestly thought not many people were there to see them. the position they were at they could not see how many were there. they only thought maybe 5000 to 6000 people were there. they were shocked when they came out on stage and there was 50,000 people there. yes the more you watch Babymetal you will understand why we call Su the Queen. she is so bad ass with her death glares and her stage presence. Moa and Yui are awesome too but Su is one of the best front persons period. she has confidence. this was their fifth song of the set. the second song, Gimmie Chocolate, Su had the crowd singing in Japanese with them. how confident do you have to be to be standing in front of 50,000 foreign fans not really knowing who you are and get them to sing with you and react with you. also their merchandise outsold all other bands for the next three days after this performance and there were very big time bands at that festival. if you didnt already know, Babymetal created their own genre of metal music Kawaii Metal, which means cute metal. of their 50 or so songs they hit on close to 30 different genres of metal music. Su can do so many different styles and still sound so good. you have to see them live to understand them. keep it up. you wont be disappointed.

@@BreakdownMediaYT it was a big day but they've had a lot of those. Babymetal had nothing but success until 2018. Their very first song was a hit. I recommend the official video. It's so cute they're 12 and 13 years old. The song is 'Doki Doki Morning'. It wasn't a hit by later standards but for a totally unknown group that weren't even independent and were a subgroup of another group it was huge. Because of Doki Doki Morning they played for 3000 people in Singapore at an Anime convention. In 2012. Their first show outside Japan and they were still a subgroup :) In fact Moa and Yui were still members of the 'main' group at the time of Sonisphere. Even tho Su had left and Babymetal was now independent. Moa was the leader (or soon to be?) :)

Nice reaction, thanks! That was a very important day in BABYMETAL's history. It was kinda "all or nothing" situation given the reputation of the typical UK crowd. So we can say they ended up with an epic win which made their career easier outside Japan. Great & thanks from Japan 有難う💛 The phrase "Dame Zettai (= No absolutely)" is originated from police campaign against illegal drugs which had started in 1960s. So this song implies that "Ijime (= bullying)" is considered as harmful and addictive as illegal drugs. We have to continue our efforts at home and in school (and in any society or organization or group in the world) to eliminate it. In this video, I love to see the excited crowd gradually turn into enthusiastic audience. When three girls started to speak some words in the interlude, loud cheers quickly subsided and the audience even tried to listen to what they were saying although the people could not understand our language. I am emotionally moved whenever I see that scene. People in the crowd became happy, so did Kami band, and I am sure that the three girls fell asleep very happily that night after the biggest event in their life in foreign county. Now in 2021, they performed IDZ in all of 10 BABYMETAL BUDOKAN concerts either as grand finale or second song after the opening show. It was probably their message to the world.

I know there will be many songs asked for which of course will totally agree with but as I mentioned to you in my previous reply, I think it might be interesting for you to cover one of their up to date songs just to compare and contrast - 'Night Night Burn '🔥 is a good video with a cracking dance routine. You've got to be careful with Babymetal vids as they're very hot on copyright although there is a 'Babymetal Reactors' channel you can source them from - they have a Babymetal watermark across the screen but it is still visible! There has never been a female Kami band member (well not yet...) The guitarist in the beginning that you were talking about his face expression was Mikio Fujioka who tragically died January 2018, after a accidental fall. His smiles, expressions, unique harmonics and tones are missed. Babymetal is different now. More pop and less metal. Also the band members now wear mask and hidden in the dark.

The best Metal song ever about stopping bullying forever! Subscribed because you're clearly about to tumble into the Fox Hole that is the Babymetal back catalogue and universe and I want to watch! 🤣🦊🤘 This is an excellent choice. It was their first appearance at a Metal festival outside Japan and they found themselves walking out on stage, aged just 15 and 16) in front of 60,000 Metal heads...and then performed 5 songs, ending with this one, IDZ. They sold more merch than any other band there that weekend, gained a legion of new fans and, last December, Queen Su said in an interview that this was her favourite performance of her career because she knew at the end of it that Babymetal had been accepted as 'real'. I am afraid the story about them being bumped stage is a myth. It has been confirmed in various interviews with the original event organiser that he specifically invited them for the main stage (they like to invite diverse new acts as part of the festival). But I suspect there were nerves as this was there first big festival outside of Asia. This was a non BABYMETAL UK metal audience so some nerves might be expected (but again remember these even then were seasoned veterans) - Su had been a model, actress, singer/dancer for 10 years buy this stage - yes her first modelling job was 3. Onstage with ASH (Actors School Hiroshima) at 7. Same for Yui and Moa in terms of experience. As for the audience, 50,000 - 60,000 was the estimate so... They were the talk of the festival and had the biggest merch sale of any band present. Their talent won them respect on the day.

In 2014 BM were getting good buzz about their performances on their first European tour and so were invited to perform at Sonisphere. They were nervous because the UK crowd was notoriously tough and they were still very young and basically unknown to most metal fans., but by the end of their 30 min set they had won them over completely. It's the moment that critics and the international audience realized that BM were a legitimate headlining band and not just a gimmick. You get a bit of everything in this: Kami Band shredding, Su power vocals, Moa and Yui backing vocals; dancing, and a Yui tutu malfunction. The title takes an iconic Japanese anti-drugs slogan (Mayaku, Dame, Zettai) and uses it against bullying.

Those old metal-heads heard a superb band, then 3 little girls came on stage and began to Sing and OMG Dancing. Those old metal-heads never knew who hit them!! Did they did buy more Babymetal merchandise than any other band at the festival!! They were moved to the main stage because of the release of Gimme Chocolate and 2 concerts they had in Europe. The first 3000 are Babymetal fans, from there the crowd is people who heard the Kamiband sound check, getting a spot for later bands, lastly those who just were there because of the crowd. Their set was 30 minutes, if you look at Su closely you can see that she knew they had that crowd in the palm of their hand!!

Feeling pride when watching BABYMETAL grow up as a band and slowly take on the world with their positive messages and modest attitude is definetly a common emotion in the fanbase. The girls worked their asses off and no-doubt sacrificed many things during their childhood/teens to achieve what they have and to bring joy to many people around the world. Remember these girls still attended obligatory school on top of touring the world during their "holidays". Not to mention the prep for all this because that's choreographies and recording the songs. As a teen I mostly sat at home eating chips while playing games and watching TV when I wasn't at school.
