"Only breaks if / when you use it" - granddad's favorite saying. Old tough as nails Swed. Told stories about 'fishing' for eels in a 'creek' in Sweden. Going across the street starting the pot belly stove in the one room school house. He was a farmer / blacksmith and a dozen other repairman on the farm. Born in 1888 he would be in amazement of how much farming has changed in the last 50 years since his passing. Take care be safe. 'Spin'

Things deteriorate just sitting there (belts, tires, corrosion...) but if you use them you have to maintain things as they break. Ideally you’d have a maintenance program for each piece of equipment and check and service each bearing every year, but there just isn’t enough time to do that. So you hope the bearings are still good and just fix them as they fail. Eventually the equipment becomes unreliable and you either rebuilt it or retire it. The Big Buds are a great example. Someone else retired them but the Welkers rebuild as needed. All that helps create interest for their youtube channel, and some income to pay for the work too. Everyone wins.

Reuseable fittings come in handy. Converting to JIC also makes life easier. No bearings ever failed from too much grease.
@wssides4 жыл бұрын
Not even close to true. Many modern bearings and bushings have seals that break with too much grease and let dirt in. Many manufacturers either make no provision for re-greasing or put plugs in that can be replaced with fittings. I saw many universal joints and tie rod ends fail from over enthusiastic greasing.

Run the flat steer up on a 4" block so when you put the jack under the axle it will lift it high enough to get the new tire on. So there you go.
@aserta4 жыл бұрын
Could be even easier if they had an air jack and used the air supply. There's various high tonnage air jacks on the market, some with decent prices, that can be safely modified to lift even in the field (like larger bottom plate, and custom lifting cup).

i would recomend to grease them just once - when they are new. The problem is that the bearings always move a little bit inside the housing- dirt comes inside - then when you grease it it also drives dirt inside the bearing. Dirt inside a bearing is much worse then running with not enough grease. My drill do about 1500 acres i a year for about 10 years and I changed just one bearing last year. Als always great job guys . Greetings from dry west poland 👍

I am from a Scandinavian heritage, compared to Scott (Leg Arms) I am pinky arms. My wife has found many creative ways to lift or move heavy items. I came home from work many years ago and saw the scissors jack under the sink. I found my wife and asked her why the jacks was under the sink. She explained the new garbage disposal was to heavy to lift into place so she jacked it up so she could twist the ring. She is a petite German woman that I have had the honor to be married to for 42 years.
