Accidentally came across this video. Loved it. Having lived in England for many years, I love the English breakfast too..the whole lot, and the advantage of having one is that u can skip lunch. English breakfast is quite heavy. The south indian breakfast that you had is an ideal morning thing to have if you are used to an early breakfast. I was surprised that they didn't give you the traditional filter coffee that south india is famous for, and without which a south indian breakfast is incomplete.

Excellent video..I appreciate the fact that despite being a European, you have projected Indian food in a positive and objective manner without stereotypes.. Incidentally English breakfast is also one of the heaviest in the world with high levels of cholesterol (i don't know how much it shoots upto after eating and how people manage to work rather than sleep😃😃😃) but a feast indeed for meat lovers (sausage, bacon, blood pudding etc)...In-fact former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill ate the English breakfast almost daily and without much exercise (including heavy drinking) lived upto the ripe old age of 90..even yorkshire pudding is a component of english breakfast, but not visible here... South Indian breakfast also has upma, which is a savory version of rava kesari..while dosa, idli, Vadai etc are popular, however you must also try/make a video on south Indian meals especially from Andhra pradesh which has rice, puri, sambar & rasam (south Indian lentils) and vegetables potato, vaareka (banana vegetable), pickles like ghongura..it is very spicy but really tasty and filling...in Andhra pradesh they make an item called passeretu, which is similar to dosa, and when stuffed with upma inside is really tasty..

Given England's climatic conditions, a meat heavy diet makes sense. The English breakfast was value for money for me.... South Indian thali a bit expensive !!

Hi Rebecca! First time viewer. My knowledge of English breakfast is almost entirely derived from reading the likes of PG Wodehouse and, of course, the many British films I've seen over the years. Having had the privilege, however, of enjoying the food of both the north and the south of India, I enjoyed this video review quite a bit. Just FYI: What you had was actually the 'mini tiffin' or 'mini breakfast' served in the southern Indian state of Tamilnadu. Almost every state in India has a different version of its own 'typical' breakfast. Even in the four southern states, the food might look a bit similar but generally has some minute and major differences. The other Indian states too have their own speciality 'typical' items, although with travel becoming easy, quick and much, much cheaper and with people migrating to other states for work and study, it's now not hard to spot a restaurant in the south serving authentic northern food or vice versa. I hope you get to visit India someday and enjoy the authentic food of at least a few states. You could stick to vegetarian food and would still be surprised at the range and assortment of dishes on offer. However, some states in India prefer their food a little spicier than the rest of us, so I'd suggest having an Indian (vegetarian) guide to direct you to the right places to eat and the right food to suit your palate. Good luck!
