Welcome to The Thin Blue Line official youtube channel. In this classic police sitcom, Rowan Atkinson plays Inspector Fowler, head of the Uniformed Branch of the fictional Gasforth police station. Fowler is constantly in battle of wits with DI Grim and the Criminal Investigation Department. Created by Ben Elton, the series aired from 1995 to 1996.

I agree with you somewhat, in that there were programs created after this which bear reference but I cannot remember them. Perhaps you could distill your better knowledge for we followers and wonderers.

I'd say Mr Bean created a legacy of similar programs, but none realistically matched the genius of Rowan Atkinson in that role. I am referring to Mr Bean in the early 1990s. Inclusive of this Blackadder displayed many spin offs of history with the character 'Baldrick' making his own historical shows and similarly themed historical comedy on TV years later. Going back to Rowan on Stand-Up, I don't think it is 100% clear whether there were similarities in the future, but some of his comedic abilties used on stage are shown carefully in future shows by Rowan himself.

Rowan's acting was fantastic in this. The supporting characters were often too exaggerated in their behaviour particularly Goody.

His girlfriend seems lovely. He's a lucky guy. As well seriously out of his league. Raymond was sometimes an annoying, oblivious, pompous twit - but his heart was in the right place. Grim was also a decent human once he got his ego out of the way.
