Not a typical Slovak breakfast at all guys but still glad you enjoyed it. Typical breakfast would be scrambled eggs with ham or bacon, definitively some sausages, or a wild selection of sausages, maybe some liver pate, salami with bread, sandwich (hot or cold), or cereal with milk or yogurt. Many Slovaks are still looking at green ingredients like a kind of blasfemy so your breakfast was definitively "trendy" one but not the typical one. I live almost 30 years in different parts of the world and I had the privilege to try and taste some of the most outstanding world's cuisines so I believe I can make some kind of statement about our national food tradition - Slovak food could be defined like the one which doesn't kill you but will definitively make you fatter. Our cuisine is "heavy" high on calories, green unfriendly, far away from being "healthy" but is so bloody good! When I go home for 2-3 weeks (almost every year) I gain at least 1kg/week or even more! My favorite is that potato pancake stuffed with the meat you eat in another video, it is called "pastierska kapsicka" or "shepherd bag" if you like, I love that one and with a glass of red wine or good beer, it is close to nirvana moment. Actually that Zlaty Bazant beer you had is the best Slovak beer by far and it means Golder Faisant. Welcome back again!

Hi guys, I am Slovak and to tell you the truth, yes, this is definitely one of the best places in Bratislava. But it is quite a "posh" place. I would say it's more French (Mondieu) and Italian inspired. If it is of any interest to you, traditionally, a lot of people might eat scrambled eggs, but definitely not with parmesian, as we hadn't even had parmesian until after the fall of the Soviet Union. And as far as sausages, I think less and less people eat them today. Nowadays, people are trying to eat a lot healthier, preferring oats, cereal,, yoghurt, or bread, butter, ham and maybe eggs, or bread with jam/marmelade/butter and honey. I wish I was there with you though, I love how you enjoy the food :)
@samuelandaudrey6 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much! Appreciate you letting us know about that. Glad to hear people are more health conscious. I really enjoyed a big sausage at the Slovan hockey game but eating those often wouldn't be healthy for sure.
@bohonativos5 жыл бұрын
That's truth. I'm Slovak too and we definitely never eat parmesan with scrambled eggs lol. With spaghetti Bolognese it's delicious ;) But to tell the truth - me personally don't really like Slovak food while it's too heavy for me. Also not "Bryndzové Halušky" which is traditional Slovak food. I never liked the taste of ship cheese lol.

Greetings from Slovakia guys :) ...a typical Slovak breakfast would contain eggs but maybe if you would cut some sausage roast in on a pan and mix it together with the eggs that would be more authentic :)

I love you both..you make me smile always. May I ask if you both teach while travelling? If not, how can you afford it and all the eating out.Europe is not cheap. You two should have your own tv series..you're both so articulate and very relatable. 😍❤️👏🏻👍🏼
@samuelandaudrey7 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much! We used to teach but it has been a while since we've done that (years in fact); how, we sustain ourselves is through various online work. What we don't show is that we typically eat at home and not out that much on an average week.
@samuelandaudrey7 жыл бұрын
One thing we've noticed in Europe is that baked goods and groceries tend to be really good value. We try to eat what is in season (fruits and veggies) and buy what locals would buy - whatever that is in the current location we're visiting.

Great video! You mentioned the reasons why you sometimes don't film. Has a restaurant ever told you that you can't film, and if so, do you stay and eat or go to another restaurant?
@samuelandaudrey7 жыл бұрын
Thank you! That is a great question. Only twice has it been awkward but we've never been told flat out not to do it. Once in Germany somebody wondered asked us what we were doing and upon explaining they were fine with it. The other time in Buenos Aires, the waiter who Audrey was speaking to in Spanish for a while let the owner know about it and she got kind of annoying hovering over our table and telling us all the things we shouldn't do. Make sure you don't film others, etc. We just ended up stopping the video on the spot and never published it.
@BrendaBenoit7 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for your answer. Keep doing what you are doing - you guys are fantastic.
@samuelandaudrey7 жыл бұрын
Thank you! A couple of tips to keep in mind is to wait and put your microphone on your camera after you order. Kind of walking into a restaurant with a camera with a microphone on draws attention. Also, we take it off once we're done the speaking clips. If we want to shoot some scenes inside the restaurant I'll sometimes use Audrey's smaller camera so it just looks like I'm a tourist grabbing a few memory shots. Not actually filming something.
@BrendaBenoit7 жыл бұрын
Thanks again. I will keep all your tips in mind. I am just starting out and still scared to do it, LOL
@samuelandaudrey7 жыл бұрын
I hear you! It takes practice to feel comfortable. The most awkward for us even now is if we're sitting too close to somebody else who is speaking English and we can easily hear their conversation. That means they can totally hear what we're doing and if people are staring at us it makes it even worse...haha.

Dear Samuel and Audrey, your clips/videos, honestly as a non-native English speaker, I don't know what they are called; then again I guess I could google it; anyhow, I always enjoy watching your clips, please keep up the good work and I hope you make some money off this channel to pay for some of your expenses. Last but not least, I love your style, and personally I don't believe you need to change anything; in case, you thought my comment on Slovak Breakfast was inappropriate/incorrect, I was just giving you my opinion based on watching your video and I am also saying this based on the fact that I went to the Czech Rep., Hungary and Austria 10 yrs ago and although I didn't see Slovakia, I believe the Breakfast shown had an international flavor as opposed being a traditional Slovak Breakfast :) cheers

No Problem. Another example English "Mist" means in German "dung". "The Silver Shadow Rolls-Royce has just got the turn again. Actually, the 1965 to 1980 produced luxury sedan should be called "Silver Mist", which means "silver dung" in Germany. However, it was recognized in good time that a sin-precious noble vehicle with the name "Silver Mist" in Germany might not arrive quite as well. Therefore they named the car "Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow" GUTEN APPETIT....macht weiter so!
